I cooked up 100 chicken wings last night and brought 20 of them to work with me today it just doesn't feel right eating them because 1 wing is 99 calories so that's like 2000 calories in one meal. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong I know we are not counting calories and we should eat protein until we feel satisfied just wondering if we should monitor the calorie intake at all on my 3rd day of induction and I want to do this right

Re: Chicken wings good choice or not
Well, I'd eat them until I felt full, which probably means that I'd end up eating 6-8 of them, not 20! I can't imagine eating 20 chicken wings - are they really small or something? I'd bust a gut - as soon as I got a few days into Induction my appetite went way down and I just haven't been able to eat like that in months.
Also - are you sure there's no carbs in there? What did you coat them in (if anything)? I'd be positive before I start scarfin' them down.
As for calories - it's not your primary concern, it's carbs and the mix of calories (65% fat, 30% protein, 5% carbs). How's that ratio for you today?

Re: Chicken wings good choice or not
I agree with the above... I would be full after maybe 6.
My favorite are the Tequila-Lime chicken wings by Tyson. 2 carbs for four wings

Re: Chicken wings good choice or not
As a guy, I eat'em like popcorn. (well, like I used to eat popcorn...)
20 isn't out of the realm for me and I'm losing like crazy. Of course I'm fatter than crazy too, but the weight is falling off of me.
I don't feel bad about about wings, and I make my own wing sauce to control the carbs."I'm big boned" ...Um, nobody has bones that big....
Buffalo wings, not just for breakfast anymore.
Hey baby, how do you like bald fat guys with no money?

it's on page 18 of my copy of DANDR where he talks about calories.
" But excess calories certainly cause you to pile on the pounds- and this is a gigantic "but"- only when you are eating a lot of carbohydrate along with fat.""I'm big boned" ...Um, nobody has bones that big....

That's why I asked about "are you sure no carbs" question - depending on how he cooked 'em, could be a recipe for poundage.Originally posted by Chef Kevin View Postit's on page 18 of my copy of DANDR where he talks about calories.

Must be a great person!!!
Ask him about a a bread free turduckenig (I have another thread started about turducken).
I figure I'd put saugage stuffing in it. And if possible, figure out a way to get some beef in it..."I'm big boned" ...Um, nobody has bones that big....

Re: Chicken wings good choice or not
My chicken wings are the kinds that are already cut into 3 pieces. I can usually eat 10 of those pieces in a sitting. My DH could eat more than that except, well, the pan only holds about 20 wings. We're both losing.
And then, to top it off, I usually sprinkle mine with red pepper and then, about halfway through cooking, dump a quarter of a cup or so of melted butter over the top and crank up the heat to crisp them up a bit.
According to fitday, a "drummette" part of a chicken wing is 55 calories. So, if I ate 10 of those it would be about 550 calories plus butter.
According to conventional diet wisdom, this shouldn't work. Lots of fat, more calories than your typical low fat diet, and still lose weight? Seems too good to be true.

Re: Chicken wings good choice or not
Hot wings are a hit in my house! Everyone loves them and can't get enough.. or maybe I should say I don't seem to be able to cook enough! LOL
I took a recipe and tweaked it so our version has 0 carbs!
1lb. chicken wings (I use the drumettes)
2tbsp. butter
1/4 cup hot pepper sauce (I use a hot sauce that has no carbs & no sugars)
Preheat Oven To 375 Degrees
1. Bake wings for 20 min.-melt butter and sauce together in a bowl or pot
2. Brush wings with sauce - continue baking for another 10 minutes
3. Turn wings over and baste with sauce - bake for another 10 minutes
Mmmmm.. yummy
