  • Getting discouraged 1 week in

    I work late so I usually get up around 2-3 pm so then I have my breakfast

    Breakfast- 1 chicken breast, 2 oz of cream diluted with water

    Lunch- salad with olive oil and vinegar with chicken mixed in

    dinner- Hamburger patty, assorted veggies (zuchinni, eggplant)

    Snacks- Cookie made with 2 tbs flax and 1 packet splenda, Cheese cooked to a crisp

    and lots of water, probably 8-9 16.9 oz bottles.


    and 1 week in im not down hardly anything. ketostx show im in ketosis though.


    am i on the right track here?

    I think it looks pretty good. I cannot really tell from what you are writing but are you getting enough fat. Do you eat plenty of oil and skin on the chicken? Just worry that your protein part is really high.

    Are you measuring those veggies? Remember only 3 cups and 3 cups are not plenty.
    How much cheese? The limit is 3-4 oz a day. More than one of those cookies?

    Have you tried Fitday. It could be helpful for you to enter your food to see if you are at those 65% of fat 5% of carbs 30% of protein.

    Are you measuring? Sometimes we lose inches before it is shown on the scale.

    Anything else happening. Are you using any medication? Are you exercising?

      yes im measuring my veggies, 2 cups from good list one from other list. only one cookie.

      how much protein is too much? no meds, not exercising a whole lot, just walking for 20 mins a day (all i really can do)

      ill start measuring my body though. good idea.

        Take a deep breath and let it out.

        Give the Diet time to work. You won't lose pounds/inches daily.

        What are your stats?

        How much do you currently weigh and what is your goal weight?
        We can expect to lose 5-10% of the weight we need to lose during the first 14 days of this diet. So folks with a 10 pound weight loss goal can expect to lose between 0.5 to 1 pound. While folks with a 100 pound weight loss goal can expect to lose between 5- 10 pounds.

        How close are you to your TOM (time of month)?
        TOM sometimes causes water retention, so you won't see that scale move down. I retain about 3-7 pounds of water during my TOM. So it's futile for me to get any meaningful weights during that time.

        Be careful about the heavy cream. Heavy cream is allowed in amounts of 3 fluid ounces daily, but that amount is on the "Special Foods Category" list. The foods on that list may slow or stop weight loss. So be aware.

        Also spread your veggies out through the day. For example, have a some tomatoes or cucumber slices with that chicken for your breakfast.

          I would suggest avoiding cheese, that can slow the process for some and can be added back later. Also, perhaps there is another way you could prepare your chicken. Baked with olive oil and spices is a nice alternative to using cream.

            Are you taking in any caffeine? Coffee or diet soda?

              yes, I do drink caffine, one or two sodas a day made with splenda. ( i know soda isnt good im working on weening off it)

              I dont cook the chicken with cream, I drink it hevily diluted as a form of milk.

              My time of the month was last week....so maybe its water retention.

              im 5'2, 270, and my final goal weight is 130 ish

              give up cheese! *sigh* Ill give it a try (thats my only savior with this woe and im surrounded with wonderful yummy european cheese)

                No need to drop cheese at this stage, especially if it is one of the allowed foods that makes Atkins more 'liveable' for you

                See out your 14 days first and look at your losses then decide if you need to start dropping allowed foods.
