  • wings?

I have seen some people on this board going out and having wings. That sounds good! Are wings from a restaurant (BW3 type) induction friendly? I guess in my head I had them with a dusting of flour or something....

Are there any sauces that work?

      Re: wings?

I prefer to make my own wings at home. This way, I know there is no breading at all. For the sauce I mix hot sauce and butter. That said... I have to say that whenever I eat wings I stall... I stay in ketosis but I stall. It's only for a day or two and it's something that I've learned to accept. As long as I'm prepared mentally for that temporary stall I do ok. HTH

        Re: wings?

Just an FYI - I do know that the BW's wing sauces - the only two that are even CLOSE to being "ok" are the mild and medium - which both only have 1 g carbs (no sugar) per tbsp...

that might be fine later one while one is in maintanance and uses it as a DIP instead of putting it all over the wing (which, believe me - BW's is one thing I DEFINITELY "miss" right now. i'm a HUGE bw's fan!)

but I have heard the "heroin wings" recipe is AMAZING.

I haven't tried it yet myself - but I do have a bag of wings at home that I plan on trying this soon - and butter w/frank's hot red sauce is your basic wing sauce:

here's the recipe I have for heroin wings:

        Heroin Wings

        • 4 lb chicken wings
        • 1/2 cup butter
        • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
        • 2 tbsp dried parsley
        • 1 tbsp dried oregano
        • 2 tsp paprika
        • 1 tsp salt
        • 1/2 tsp freshly-ground black pepper
        1. First, preheat the oven to 350°F.
        2. Cut the wings up into "drummettes". (Freeze the pointy "tips" for soup -- they make great broth!) *note: I don't do this step
        3. Then combine the grated cheese and the seasonings. Line a shallow baking pan with foil.
        4. Melt the butter in a shallow bowl or pan.
        5. Dip each "drummette" in butter, roll in the seasoned cheese, and arrange in the foil lined pan. Bake for 1 hour at 350°F. Kick yourself that you didn't make a double recipe!!
Description: "Once you try these, you'll understand the name -- utterly, totally addictive! You'll impress the heck out of your friends -- and wish you'd made more! They're great leftover, too."

          Re: wings?

Thanks all. Considering I have been in ketosis for almost a week and not lost a pound, I am thinking maybe I should hold off for a bit if there is even a chance that wings could "stall" my progress. I am keeping that recipe though!!!!

I love Heroin Wings. So does my 10 yo ds They aren't spicy hot, though, so if you like them that way, you'll need to add more spices.

                  Re: wings?

I guess wings are a YMMV type of thing. I am pretty stall resistant I guess. I live on wings during induction with no problems. I can't find hot sauces in stores hot enough for me, so I make my own sauce. It has habeneros, chile de arbol, jalepenos, serranos, and finger hot peppers along with garlic, cilantro, onion, and vinegar. I then add this to some butter and coat wings with it. After I coat the wings with it, I finish it off by broiling them for a few minutes and tossing them in sauce once again. Due to the extreme heat, usually four drummettes is a good meal along with plenty of water. I truly believe in thermogenics helping this diet. I also use this sauce when I make beef jerky. I call it "pain" flavored. It really curbs your appetite and makes your water goal easy to achieve. I also throw it on ground beef and top it with cheese. I call it pinecone chili because the next day you feel like you ate one.

Its normal not to lose daily or even weekly. Just relax and stay off the scales and you'll do fine.
Most wings do have flour or sugar, but there are some awesome recipes for them. Butter and tabasco sauce makes a decent wing

Costco has a buffalo wing that is fully cooked in the freezer section... 1 carb per wing.

I love coming on here and finding a new way to cook an old favorite. Thanks guys. I will be making these tomorrow. My first go round on Atkins back in 2004 I ate wings like 3 to 4 times weekly and the weight fell off. I love my wings.

I'm lazy. When I cook my wings I spray the pan with oil, throw the wings on there and sprinkle them with red cayenne pepper. Cook them til crisp, flip 'em over a couple of times towards the end and call it good.
