  • ketosis and fat storage

    Hello,

There seems to be a few conflicting information about this, my question is: Can the human body store fat while in ketosis? A basic Yes or No answer is what I'm after. On the one hand, there are arguments that if u sit in bed and eat 10 kg of butter, ur body will go into ketosis (because ure not eating glucose) but due to the fact that you have eaten a lot more fat that what is needed for energy, some of the fat will be stored, causing weight gain. Another argument states that due to lack of insulin, the body cannot store fat. Any medical experts who can answer this question with certainty?
If it is the former, then wouldn't this defy the very theory of Atkins of 'eat as much fat as u want and still lose weight'???

Hi - you may be interested in my thread "Dietary fat vs. bodyfat". Like yuo I am looking for some scientific answers.

I recommend Gary Taubes book "Good calories, bad calories" - an excellent review and commentary of the scientific literature re. weight loss over the past 100 years.
