I lost 43lbs in about 3 months. I've always been a quick loser, and that includes two cheats and the resulting gain/reloss. It depends on how much you have to lose though and age and about 100 other things. Everyone is different. How long did it take you to gain the weight? You will have a better idea of how long it will take to lose your weight after a clean induction. A clean induction will tell you how resistant you are to this WOE.

Hi mom2jjl07,
I lost 16 lbs in the first few weeks , but have not lost anything in the last 2 months . However , because I feel so much better by not being overloaded by carbs , I am sticking with Atkins . Also , even though my weight isn't changing , my body shape is getting leaner .
So a 20 lb loss should be fairly easy as long as you stick to the rules of induction .

I had 35 lbs to lose, and after one month lost 10lbs. My clothes are fitting tremendously better, and thats only after a month. Stick to the book, and you will see results sooner than you think

Thanks for all the responses! This place is so great and supportive! Today is my first official day, its now 9:28(ms time) and I have made it thru one day! Sooooo proud of myself
I have been fighting the cravings all evening though. Stuck to it, my head is starting to hurt a lil and I can tell its gonna be tough over the next several days
BUT today when those evil voices that have thrown me off so many times, you know, the "just eat em and start again tommorrow" I have heard that voice every single attempt!! And now I am at 175 and if I want to lose the 30lb and get back into my cute clothes(sick of big t-shirts) and I want to get out, not miss things because I am too embarassed about the way I look now, I have got to do this. THIS FOOD ADDICTION,EMOTIONAL EATING HAS RUINED MY LIFE!! Time to take it back NO MATTER HOW HARD IT IS GONNA BE!!!

who can say? I think I lost about 12 pounds on indcution, or maybe a little less, and in the following 2 months all I have lost is about 7 more.... everybody is differrent. Good luck to you.I'm a father of twin daughters, whose main goal in life is to set a positive example for them.

It's great that you are starting the Atkins lifestyle which is a step in the right direction. I lost about 24 pounds in the first 2 months. I have been doing this for 4 months and have lost a grand total of 37 pounds so far. It's really important to follow the plan and be careful about where the carbs are coming from. I made the mistake of eating too much fruit instead of veggies once I was allowed to add them back in. You can lose weight really quickly on Atkins but you have to change your eating habits if you want to keep it off. I did Atkins in college and lost a lot of weight but then I went back to my old ways thinking I could control it better. I know now that I am a carb addict! My body just looooves carbs and craves them if I have too many. Good luck to you! It won't be long before you are wearing those cute t-shirts again! I went shopping this weekend and was so happy to try things on and everything fit! I didn't have to try to hide my weight and it was amazing.

I had 25lbs to lose, lost 8 on induction, 12 in the first month..but the rest came of very very slowly. Took a total of 10 months to get to goal (i went a few months with no movement on the scale).
Keep in mind, that the last 10 lbs or so is going to come off very slowly and don't get discouraged. The less you have to lose, the slower it will come off.Jen, 39, F

Yeah, some are desperate to do that. The wiser ones just do Induction by the book.

Seriously, don't compare your weight loss with anyone. There will always be someone who lost more/faster than you and you're only setting yourself up for disappointment. The best thing you can do is follow Atkins the way Dr. Atkins wrote this "diet".
