  • Nightmares about eating junk food?...

Does anyone else have nightmares about eating sugary junk food?...

I have been having a lot of these lately...for example - last night part of my dream I was eating a HUGE jelly filled doughnut (which even when i used to eat doughnuts i never liked the jelly filled, lol) - but I remember in my dream eating this HUGE (like 3 x size of a normal doughnut) raspberry jelly filled doughnut and thinking "oh crap, i've failed again..." but i just kept SHOVING it into my mouth.

anyone else? or am i just wierd? (course that's a possibility as I know i am! lol)

LOL I've had dreams like this before! Like I'll be at a big table and just shoveling the food into my mouth! Just one big handful (no utensils) after the other and just going "nom nom nom" while I do it! I wake up and I'm like eeew what a gross dream! I have no idea why..maybe it's the mind's way of working out your fears? Like when you have a dream about loosing teeth or your hair? I just think its kinda funny and don't really linger.

I had dreams like that the first time I did atkins but none so far this time. But I also haven't had too many cravings this go around either.

Oh I am weird right there with you! Last night I was dreaming of crullers...you know those rippley kind of donuts? Those are my faves, and I was eating them and feeling so guilty! And I woke up feeling fat. LOL

I have had cravings for doughnuts but no dreams. I think it is one of those forbidden foods that can be hard to let go, even if you did not eat them before Atkins.
My dreams have been about KFC and other fast food fried chicken!!

lol yeah, I have them off and on. I actually had one last night about pizza. Its weird though because I don't really have any cravings at all. I haven't cheated once this time around. I'm kind of surprised at myself but I haven't had much desire to cheat.

Re: Nightmares about eating junk food?...

I had them for quite a while when I started Atkins this second time--100% by the book. They felt so real that sometimes when I awoke, it thought I could still taste and smell the food. More than once I had to get out of bed to go check the fridge, pantry and trash can to make sure I hadn't actually consumed the evil carbs, even though I knew in my mind that I didn't even have any ___________ in the house! I, too, felt bloated and fat (and guilty) most of the time.

Re: Nightmares about eating junk food?...

I've been taking Ambien since about the same time I started on Atkins and have had a few dreams that I honestly...to this day...can't say 100% for sure they were dreams. With ambien, it's possible I really did something but just don't remember. One of the dreams I was standing at the refrigerator noshing on something. The good news, however, is that everything in my fridge is legal, and I didn't find any empty containers of anything...so I'm fairly certain it was a dream.

It really weirds you out when it feels that real though!

                          Realistic Final Goal: 190
                          Stretch Goal: 140

Successfully did Atkins in 1998 using 1992 copy of the book...before it was "hip". Lost 60lbs, exercised daily, felt and looked great. And then I moved in with a junk-food loving man, my mom got sick and passed away, then I suffered a spinal cord injury, and junk-food dude left me...and now I weigh 292lbs. That's 22lbs MORE than I weighed the first time around. It's 10 years later...I know this will work for me again.

Re: Nightmares about eating junk food?...

The absolute worst one was the one where I dreamed that I got up to make sure that there was no evidence of me eating junk in the night, and the counter tops and trash can were loaded with empty cookie and snack wrappers! That one was very confusing, because it felt so real.

I never go to bed that there is even one dish left dirty and the entire kitchen is put away and spotless. In the dream, I put everything in the trash and wiped down the counters, because I hate to get up to a messy kitchen. The dream was so real that when I woke up for real, I was shocked that there was nothing at all--no empty chip bags, no empty cookie packages--in my trash can that I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone.

The crazy part is that I don't even like cookies! I love to bake homemade cookies for others, but I can't remember the last time I bought a package of store-bought cookies! Probably more than 20 years ago. But, in the dream, they were definitely store-bought cookies that I ate down to the crumbs.

wow - well at least I know i'm not the only one here to be having these dreams.

and - sunny - just like you not eating cookies - that's a lot of my dreams. the junk i eat in my dreams aren't things I'd normally have eaten, junk-food-wise before I was on atkins.

ie - the jelly filled doughnut - i've always thought those were WAY too sweet and always preferred your basic krispy kream glazed. nothing fancy (although chocolate glazed was always good too! hehe).
