  • Going out to eat tonight: does this sound induction friendly?

I'm on extended induction (first week into extended).

"Large grilled portabello mushroom caps baked with goat cheese, caramelized onions, roasted peppers and crispy pancetta wheels"

(pancetta is a type of italian meat, somewhat like prosciutto)

For my main dish, I will get "12 oz black angus sirloin finished with sea salt and grilled over hardwood charcoal. Drizzled with extra fine Tuscan olive oil and fresh lemon juice. Served with roasted garlic."

I know the steak is ok, and the mushrooms seem ok. Everyone agree?

    Thanks!

Pancetta is a cured meat, so it might have some sugar/dextrose in it. But other than that, it sounds delicious!

sounds good. But when you get to the restaurant, be sure to ask the waiter if they put any bread crumbs into that mushroom dish. Often times, they add bread crumbs or flour to make the stuffing "stick" together.

thanks everyone. it's an excellent Tuscan restaurant up here in New England. So glad I found some induction-friendly stuff on the menu because I hate being "that guy."

I'll risk the pancetta since I'm planning on only having one cap and sharing the rest with the others in my group. Not2late - thanks for the tip on the flour/crumbs. I'll certainly ask...

LOL that guy! I totally get you. I had to sit with my family at a buffet. I also had to pay buffet price to have a small salad. It was very hard!

The meal sounds delicious! Enjoy yourself

I don't know...since you are fairly new at this, I think I should go along as the taste-tester--just to make sure you don't mess up induction with inferior food that is not R E A L L Y induction friendly. Possibly more than one of us should go--five so as to render our opinion as to suitability with a quorum. Four to vote--fifth as the tie breaker.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

Is this on a first come, first served basis or do we have to submit an application?

That sounds so good. You have my mouth watering. I might have to go get a steak and grill it this weekend.
Have fun on your night out.

LOL! I agree. We should all tag along for support and taste testing. haha

Thanks everyone! This is an excellent restaurant, and it was actually fun perusing the menu beforehand to try and find the most induction-friendly items for dinner (and to avoid spending 15 minutes reading it there...) I'll let you all know how it turns out...

I copied down the description so I can try making those mushrooms at home this summer on the grill. Mmmmmmm.

Hi everyone - last night's dinner was great. We ordered an antipasto appetizer and I had a piece of proscuitto and a piece of cheese. No wine/bread, obviously, which was ubiquitous for the entire 3 hour meal.

For my meal, I had the steak, but when I ordered the mushrooms, the server said the steak comes with green beans and polenta. So, I skipped the mushrooms as I got the 16 oz steak and the green beans (didn't eat the polenta). Everyone except me had dessert (fried dough w/ nutella and homemade vanilla ice cream, tiramisu and bread pudding). I was content with my excellent steak and green beans in butter. I did good.
