    I am not trying to be rude to all the people living outside of the UK. im starting this thread for people to share ideas about atkins and for a chat simply because our foods are the same and its hard to understand american foods.

    Ill start by saying how is everyone? how is your day? Its my second day today and i just test my ketostix and its light purple - yay xx

    Hi Laura

    How are you getting on? Did your Mum show you how to roast that chicken yet?
    Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

          yes i will definatly because i spent 65 pound on shopping for myself i was shocked. i cant spend that every week i cant afford it. so im hoping a chicken will last the same as the breasts.

          im trying to think of what to cook from my fridge because i dont want my food to go off. any ideas??? i have looked on lindas website but cant see anything because id have to buy more food to make those recipes. although i will try them they all sound lovley. anyway, in my fridge i have chicken breast,lettuce,cabbage,mushrooms,onion,double cream,sour cream, avacados,cheese,eggs. i would like to use the cabbage if u know of anything because i havent opend it yet? thanks xx

                  pork rinds = pork scratchings
                  skillet = frying pan

                  Laura, what kind of lasagna are you talking about? Lasagna are pasta, so definitely not allowed at this point in your diet.

                      Meat is often a safe choice (of course, not breaded meat for example). Salad should be okay too, but check the ingredients for stuff like corn, carrots, apples, etc. A side of veggies should also be okay. For dressing choose oil and vinegar or bring your own---restaurants often have sugar in their dressings.

                      A good idea would be to choose a restaurant that has its menu online. Then you could decide what to have before arriving at the restaurant, so you'll be less tempted to cheat or make compromises. Or if the menu is not online, go there the day before and check the menu.

                          Georgiana's suggestion is a good one which I often follow.
                          So far no restaurant has been unhappy to comply when I tell them the foods I do not eat and ask for things to be left off the dish.

                          You can always play the 'health reasons' card and say that if you eat starches or sugar etc you will probably be ill! No-one wants to make themselves liable for litigation and if they lie and give you food containing ingredients you have specifically said you don't want they would be!

                            Hey Laura!

                            I went to a carvery for my Father-in-Laws birthday the other day and it was perfect! I actually told the man cutting up the meat I was low carbing so would only be having a bit of brocolli and some cabbage so I wanted a couple of different slices of meat - he was more then happy to oblige. ANd it's easy on the pocket too

                            BTW - I'm from New Zealand but I live in London. WHereabouts are you based?
