  • Percentage of fat to carb to protein - questions!

    Help! Confused about two things:
I ate a lot of sashimi today and my fat % on fitday is only 42% (protein 52% and carbs are under 20 grams) - will this take me out of ketosis??
Plus, I've been reading about basal metabolism on the board and fitday tells me I have definitely been burning like 7-8 hundred more calories a day than I am eating (I'm exercising a lot.) I don't get it - is this bad?
thanks so much for the advice!

No it wont take you out of ketosis but the WOE is designed to be high fat-too much protein on a regular basis is hard on your system. You should eat enough calories to be close to your BMR. Fitday always tells me I burn 6-700 more than I eat but my metabolism does not bear that out. If it did I would already be at goal.

    GOAL ONE 228

    GOAL TWO 213 (personal goal)
    GOAL THREE 199 ONE-DERLAND
    FINAL GOAL 165

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

Depends on your metabolism and on what else you had that day. Excess glucogenic amino acids can be converted to glucose, so they can affect your ketosis. I wouldn't worry for one day though, but keep 'legal' foods around just in case. You'll be aware of this next time and you can plan higher fat meals for the rest of the day.

If I would eat as much as FitDay tells me I should eat, I'd be so full I had to roll instead of walk. The BMR calculators are VERY rough estimators, and the number of calories you are actually burning does not depend only on age, weight, height and activity level. Eat as much or little as you need to feel satisfied without feeling stuffed. I doubt your body will allow you to starve yourself.
