  • Cottage cheese help

So I've been looking ahead for when I jump over to Rung 2 and was looking at a few things at the store yesterday that I would be able to incorporate. I found the Fage yogurt but the only full fat version they had was the ones with the fruit cups. I'm going to go to Whole Foods to get those.

My question is about cottage cheese, though. I was looking at the ingredients for the cottage cheeses that didn't say fat free or low fat on them and the ingredients included either skim milk or fat free milk. I'm assuming that I need to get a full fat version of cottage cheese but didn't see any. There were some that said 4% minimum but they still listed the skim milk in the ingredients. IS there one that's made with full fat milk? Maybe they just didn't have it at the store I was at (King Soops). Perhaps Whole Foods would have some? Or is the 4% minimum the one I should be get?

    Re: Cottage cheese help

I don't know if there exists cottage cheese with more than 4% fat, but 4% is the most I ever found in Germany and in the US. It's okay to have that, the carbs are pretty low I think. Mine has 3.2 carbs per 1/2 cup.

Lucky you finding 4% all I can get here is 2 %. Sometimes I add a bit of cream to it and got with that. I also think 4% is as high as it gets.

        2% is the highest here too - 5 carbs / 1/2 cup.

The lowest in carbs I can find in Germany has 1.5 carbs per 100 g (1/2 cup = 113 g). Just that the supermarket that sells it is not close to me. If anyone in Germany is interested, check at REWE.

              4% is "full fat".

Try the store brands. I have a regional store called "Giant" and they have a full fat cottage cheese that's about 3 or 4 net carbs per 1/2 cup. Nationally, look for the Friendship brand: it has 3 net carbs per 1/2 cup.
