  • Not feeling hungry!!

Hi Guys, I've been doing the atkins exactly to the book for 2 weeks now, however I am not feeling hungry what-so-ever. For the past 2 days I have had 2 Eggs for breakfast (boiled as I dont fancy anything fried), but come lunch time I can only managed half a breast of chicken, and by dinner time im not hungry at all. Is this normal, or is something wrong??? I feel im not getting enough food inside me.

    2 Weeks on atkins,
    Start weight 256 lbs,
    Current weight 236lbs,
    Goal 180lbs
    56 lbs to go

      Hi Liv,

Nothing is wrong with you. You are in ketosis, happily burning fat for energy, and appetite suppression is one of the "side effects".

Eat at least three meals a day and eat something whenever you are hungry. But if you are not hungry and 6 hours have passed since your last meal, then have a snack that combines fat, protein and part of your veggie carbs.

If you go by hunger, you will have days very low in calories and days when you will be eating a lot. Don't be scared of any and just do what your body is telling you to do. If it asks for more food (because of physiological hunger!), then give it to it; if it doesn't, then just keep your blood sugar stable by following the 6-hours rule.

        Happy low carbing!
