  • Advantage Shakes on Induction?

I've been using a 2 week meal planner from the Atkins website, and on it it says that the shakes can be used as my 'snack', but I have also read that it is not good to use the shakes during the induction period. What do I do?!

Find other snacks if you need a snack, i.e. you are hungry or six hours have passed since your last meal. Stuff like cheese, a boiled egg, left overs, muffins, slices of quiches, veggies with some dip make a healthy, Induction-legal snack.

Atkins shakes and bars often stall people. You do not want to risk this during Induction (and even later, imo), because a clean Induction is essential in order to be able to determine your degree of metabolic resistance (see the charts in DANDR, Ch. 13).

Read the tag line in red in my signature. It sorta sums it up quickly.

They're perfectly legal, with the right recipe

          This is one recipe: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...e-muffins.html

And this is something between a savory cheesecake and a quiche: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...st-change.html

Also, don't forget that Induction is only the first phase of Atkins. If muffins is what you want, there are many OWL-friendly recipes out there.

How wonderful that you looked before you leap.
I think some of us would have likely though: I am allowed a shake - I am going for it. But as I experienced it was not a good idea. I cannot lose with them. I assume it is the sweeteners that are the problem for me.
