  • Weight loss but skin gain -

    I was wondering for the ones that have lost weight. Have u or do u have issues w/ excess skin.

    I had a tummy tuck at 215 pnds, last february. I'm still over weight and have extra loose skin on my sides. I should have waited to get a tuck after weight loss but I had the money at the time really needed to get it done cuz I already had extra skin on my tummy. My doc said for me to lose more weight and he wil fix the excess skin at that time. But for those that didn't have any surgery done. If u lost alot of weight how did u deal with the excess skin if u had it.

    I have lost 50+ lbs since January 08. (35ish since April this year) and I do notice that it is a little loser but nothing like I expected. I am young and really think that with time it was snap back (well not back because it never was tight :P) I use some body butter every now and them just to insure my skin stays moisturized, drinking lots of water helps, and of course EXERCISE...it helps too. Honestly every body acts differently so it is hard to tell how things will go.

      Hi Goldcar2222. There is a thread somewhere about excess skin. I haven't been successful in searching this forum. It seems that most people do have excess skin but they would rather have the skin than the fat. You certainly have more nerve than I do. I can't even post a face picture let alone a full body shot. What kind of exercise are you doing? I am walking and go to the gym once or twice a week. I need to get in there more often.
      Are you journalling your food or keeping track some other way? Good Luck!

        Well.... I & about it a lot. Sometimes I and . Other times I've been known to & . I've even been known to .

        Most of the time though? I'm very & that my butt fits into MUCH smaller pants than it used to, and in the big picture, I don't care. LOL

          I wish I had found Atkins sooner. I exercise to give me the best body I can have. I am not posing for any centerfolds, but I'd rather have the excess skin than what I had before and I keep reminding myself of that. Will I have have surgery? For now, no. We will see how I feel in another year.

            I have read somewhere, don't know it for a fact, that losing with Atkins means less excess skin in the end than losing with other weight loss plans due to the fact that Atkins results in mostly FAT loss and not fat and muscle both. Losing the supporting muscle tissue, per this article I can't remember much else about, adds to the sagging folds of excess skin. It also stated that with continued weight loss at that point, the excess skin can be lost.

            I intend to lose enough to test out this theory, but at least it gives me some hope that I won't, in fact, have such massive amounts of excess skin as what I have seen on tv weight loss shows, etc.
