If you are following the diet in the book, Dr. ATkins New Diet Revolution 2002 edition, then you are not doing anything wrong.Originally posted by rich0788 View PostThis is my 9th day of induction and have lost a total of 14 lbs. but i been weighing the same for the last couple days. Stay off the scales because weight can vary day to day, hour to hour, minute to minute. If you don't believe me, weigh yourself immediately before and immediately after drinking 16 fluid ounces of water.

thanx megs....i just know i have a hard time trying to get down the leafy greens and making sure that most half of my carbs come from veggies. I just hate looking at that scale not seeing the numbers go up or stay the same. Now should i keep my protiens under a certain portion size becuase when i need to eat leafy greens i usually try to mix lots of chicken because i just hate the texture of lettuce.

Do you like any other veggie? I think there are 40 some veggies to chose from - so you do not have to eat leafy greens.

Exactly the same thing happened to me in my second week - 3 days in a row of exactly the same weight.Originally posted by rich0788 View PostThis is my 9th day of induction and have lost a total of 14 lbs. but i been weighing the same for the last couple days. It says (in the book I think) that after the initial period of rapid water loss, the body starts to balance out the water level a little, but at the same time, you are in ketosis and losing fat. Hence the scales don't move (because the water gain, and the fat loss, balance each other out). In a day or two or three, the water issue should resolve itself, and the scales should start moving again. Don't forget to drink a LOT of water in the meantime, and exercise as much as you can.

Yes and sometimes the body needs a week or two just to catch up with all the changes you have unleashed on it.

It would be good if you could post a menu, with quantities and net carbs. That would make it easier for us to make suggestions.Originally posted by rich0788 View PostNow should i keep my protiens under a certain portion size becuase when i need to eat leafy greens i usually try to mix lots of chicken because i just hate the texture of lettuce.
Excess protein can be converted to glucose and thus interfere with weight loss. Without a menu, it's hard to say if you are eating too much protein or too little. As a rough estimate, about 30% of your calories should come from protein. But you need to make sure that you are eating enough food, or else your metabolism will slow down and 30% doesn't really say much. For example,
30% of 500 kcal ............... 37.5 g protein
30% of 1500 kcal ............. 112.5 g protein
30% of 2200 kcal ............. 165 g protein"Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

We are counting net carbs on Atkins, not total carbs. Net carbs are total carbs minus dietary fiber. I think what you listed are total carbs.Originally posted by rich0788 View PostBreakfast~ 2 eggs scrambled---- 1.1 carbs

6 slices of what?

Georgiana i found on fitday i can look up my total dietay fiber, so i can stubtract that from my total carbs......and when i look at my pie chart on fitday is there a range i should keep my fat in and other nutrients. cuz i had 62% fat 34% protein and 4% carbs

Re: Seems like Im slowing down
Wow... Maybe I'm missing something here. But 14 lbs in 9 days
and you've slowed down a little, and you're worried??? That is fantastic success. Yes, your body is going to want to play catch up and take a break. Also remember, 2 pounds a WEEK would be outstanding too! Remind yourself that it took a while to get where we are today, and it will take a while to get where we want to be.

Re: Seems like Im slowing down
You need more vegetables in your diet. A cup of zucchini and 6 slices of cucumber is very little and you are cheating yourself of nutrition. Did you check the Rules of Induction and the Acceptable Foods List? There you see what veggie choices you have and how much of them you should eat. It is better to choose a variety of vegetables, because one vegetable alone does not have all the nutrients your body needs.Originally posted by rich0788 View Postohh im sorry 6 slices of cucumber......
The Rules and the Acceptable Foods Lists are in your copy of DANDR 2002. There are also copies of them in the sticky threads I linked to below, but you need to read the book too.
You click on the food. That will give you the nutritional facts for that food only. There you'll see "Carbohydrate" and right below it there is "Dietary fiber".well how do i find out the dietary fiber to subtract from?
The ratios are important mainly for fueling ketosis. Beyond that, what is more important, imo, is the amount (in grams) of each macronutrient in your diet. For example,Originally posted by rich0788 View PostGeorgiana i found on fitday i can look up my total dietay fiber, so i can stubtract that from my total carbs......and when i look at my pie chart on fitday is there a range i should keep my fat in and other nutrients. cuz i had 62% fat 34% protein and 4% carbs
- 30% protein on a 900-calorie diet is 67.5 g of protein
- 30% protein on a 2000-calorie diet is 150 g of protein
So although the percentages are the same, the amount of protein you eat is very different.

Re: Seems like Im slowing down
~Georgiana~ I couldn't tell you what my calories are becuase i thought that we really did not have to count those. Would it be wise to count calories along with the carbs? Cuz i mainly stay away from red meat, i eat more chicken and fish than ne thing else.

Re: Seems like Im slowing down
Indeed, Dr. Atkins told us we do not have to count calories, but it is a good idea to count them, imo. Not eating enough can slow you down... and so can overeating. Many people undereat on Induction, because of the appetite suppressant effect of ketosis.Originally posted by rich0788 View Post~Georgiana~ I couldn't tell you what my calories are becuase i thought that we really did not have to count those. How much cheese did you eat?
Was the chicken breast with or without skin? How did you cook it?
