  • Any advice? Help!!!

    I've been on and off atkins countless number of times now. I really want to do this right this time, any advice or motivation? I try and fall off in less than 3 days. I should be motivated since i'm getting married in less than 4 1/2 mths now, but for some reason just can't do it. I need a kick in the butt. I do workout everyday (40 mins on the elliptical).

    Gradually cut out carbs until you are at 20 a day. Substitute drinks with water. It was hard for me because I love my coke but now I do not even miss it.

    SW= 265 ish

    CW= 251

    GW= 125

      Hi prettygirl!
      I know exactly how you feel. This is my 3rd time starting atkins. The great thing about it, is everytime I start it, I am able to go further without falling off the wagon, so keep at it! Especialy with the wedding day comming, you'll have a lot of pictures made, and many years from now you'll look at the pictures and wish that you have been stronger and lost the weight.
      This board is the greatest find for me!! There are so many kind and inspirational people here, that I think this time I will not "fall off of anything" until I reach my goal!! :yes

        Hi Prettygirl, :wave

        You know what they say about banging your head against the wall? the best part is the feeling you get when you stop.

        That said, aren't you tiered of off again on again, aren't you tiered of being trapped in a body you're not proud of and take great pride in, aren't you tiered of being a slave to foods that control you - as opposed to you controlling them?

        The answer exists inside you and only you, there is no pill for motivation there is no magic recipe for change and transformation.

        The fact is, if you're finally fed up you'll make sure you have a copy of 2002 version of Dr. Atkins new Diet Revolution - known around here as DANDR and you'll follow the diet - period.

        If you really, deep in your heart don't want to change, why then you won't. But I think the very fact that you're here speaks volumes about your will to change I just think you might need a little encouragement.

        If you follow Atkins along with your current exercise regime that person you know you are but have yet to see staring back at you from the mirror will be a reality, she'll be real and not a "goal" and the whole process is incredibly easy.

        Forget "cutting down on your carbs little by little" that's a recipe for failure.

        Forget trying to do your own "low carb modified version" of Atkins - it never works, not in the long run

        Embrace this wonderful way of eating and let it be the catalyst you need into a better life - not just because you'll be thinner but because you'll be healthier and happier on every single level a person can be.

        My best advice? Make like Nike and Just do it - don't think about or analyze it or agonize over it, just do it.

            Congratulations! Well... just remember your fiance chose you as you are, so don't feel too pressured. 135 is below my goal weight! LOL... Anyway, what keeps me going on Atkins is just the thought of how far I've come. You can't have a "weak moment" on Atkins because it undoes your ketosis, and you have to start all over. I'm on day 7 now, and the thought of cheating!! No way! And have to go through day one and two all over again?

            And I'm not sure how far you've gotten before, but my cravings are all but gone now. I have no desire for ice cream or cake or bread or whatever. I kind of feel like a mindless eating machine... if I'm hungry, I just want food, and it doesn't much matter what it is. When I'm full, I don't feel like eating anymore. It's kind of weird for a food-lover like me.

            Just get past those first few days... and think to yourself, "If I don't stick to this diet now, when will I ever?"
            I'm 26 years old, and I lost weight on this plan in 2005. I'm getting married in August and thought this would be the way to go after making little progress on other diets. I've got 20 lbs to lose for the big day!
