Question Cheating

Well I am somewhat proud of myself. I have lost 12 pounds since around Sept. 1st. It would have been more but I keep cheating on the weekends.

Here is my dilema:
I am the kind of person that can never stick to a diet or exercise plan. I go full steam ahead for like 2 or 3 weeks and then quit. This is the longest I have been on any sort of plan since I was 21. I want to stop cheating on the weekends (which is soooooo hard) but I am worried that if I do that I will end up quiting completely. Cheating on the weekends keeps me on track because I know I can't have the pizza now, but in a few days I can....I am good at getting right back on track on Monday, but I know that eventually I will stall out by doing this, and that I could loose it alot quicker if I control myself.
Any suggestions?

You are in control of your weight loss. There really isn't much in our lives that we have control over; the price of gas, when the sun comes up, when the snow will fly.... but you have 100% control over what you put in your mouth.

I know that is not a popular sentiment and probably not what you prefer to hear but.... those are my thoughts, thank you for reading them.

Ugh, a spammer was faster than me. Grrr...

You should stop thinking you can have pizza in a few days. You cannot! Not if you want to follow Atkins, not if you want to lose weight and not if you want to be healthier.

You said the most you ever sticked to a diet was 1-2 weeks? Well, if you ate pizza every weekend, it does not surprise me. Moreover, Atkins is not a diet. It's a lifelong way of eating. This means you are not doing Atkins if you eat Atkins-legal 5 days, eat pizza, chips and cheesecake 2 days, than go back to 'Atkins' for 5 days and so on.

I don't want to sound harsh and by no means I want to discourage you. But here's the point... Once you get in ketosis (this happens 2-3 days into induction) your appetite will be suppressed and your cravings will diminish. You could also take L-Carnitine to help with the cravings. So after the first days on Atkins, you should be able to control your pizza cravings. It's a bumpy ride in the first days, but I promise you it gets better the longer you stay in the saddle. Eating pizza will only make your cravings return and there you are then - stuck in a vicious circle that will mess up your metabolism and your health.

I also have a good news for you, but it requires you to do some work. Specifically, to cook. Here's an induction-legal pizza recipe:

There are also other pizza recipes on Linda's website:

It would also worth taking some time to read these stickies:

Imagine that you're doing great, losing weight, feeling better than ever, thrilled with yourself, hearing compliments from friends and acquaintances---and then it happens! Despite all your good intentions, you're mightily tempted by a food you're not supposed to have. What to do? I'll tell you this: You'd better have a strategy ready!"

P.S. Oh, thanks for taking care of that! I thought I'm hallucinating or something.
