| Good for you and welcome to OWL! OWL might seem less intimidating to you than to a person whose hung around induction longer than the minimum 14 days because you haven't gotten sloppy with measuring your foods or keeping a food diary and because you haven't gotten brainwashed into believing you'll never lose weight if you eat above 20 net carbs daily. The important things for you are: 1. Re-read the book ![]() 2. Read the stickies in this forum. 3. Add only 1 food at a time. 4. Keep exercising. 5. Don't add additional fat to your menu. Keep it the same as for Induction or slightly lower (like 1/2 tablespoon less). 6. Keep drinking your water. 7. Be strict about measuring foods and keeping a food diary. You'll like OWL, because you'll enjoy a wider variety of food, while you lose that weight.

I think I have the booked memorized I am starting at the gym on Monday morning 5:00 AM! Fat for me is my friend, I do not count the amount of fat or protein, I only count the amount of carbs in my diet. When I shop for meat I try to find the meat with the most fat, nice and marblized, chicken breast with the skin, pork shoulder covered in fat! For me if I cut the fat I slow my weight loss down and tend to get a bit plugged up, if ya know what I mean I do drink water and I am learning to love it more each day! I never really enjoyed drinking water but when I start to get the blahs about drinking it I think of all the good it does for my body and they go away! I do not keep a diary and I wish I would and as for measuring foods I am pretty good at eye balling things out but when it comes to foods that have more carbs associated with them such as some seeds and nuts I am very strict. The green leafy stuff I just eye ball it. And yes, I am already enjoying the woder variety of food. Today I am enjoying 1/2 of an acorn squash drowned in butter Again thanks for everyone's support and I am sure I have said this before but I never get tired of saying so here it goes..... I love this place!!!! Brian - 30 lbs |

| Hmmm...if you're already eating acorn squash during your first week of OWL, then you are probably following the 1992 version of the Atkins diet. You might want to read the 2002 edition because Dr. Atkins made OWL much more structured by adding the higher glycemic foods later in the OWL phase, in order to avoid any potential stalling or slowing problems early on. I do recommend that you try to keep track of your foods. You'll find during OWL that some foods can affect weight loss or trigger blood sugar instability problems and those are the foods you need to avoid. Plus, you'll need to figure out your CCLL, so you won't be a slave to the Induction 20.

| jackfox, Welcome to OWL! I love it here. Of course, everyone is different, but I've had much more success in OWL than I did in induction. It's been an average of 2 lbs per week, sometimes more, sometimes less.
