Default Hellmann's Mayo

I start OWL tomorrow, has anyone used light Hellmann's mayo, it has no sugar and its a way to lower your fat a bit while adding more carbs.

Thanks

Nope, never used the "light" versions during Atkins. Reduced fat products usually add carbs in order to keep the texture and flavor of the product more like the regular version.
According to this link:
http://www.calorie-count.com/calories/item/97425.html

The light fat hellmans has 1 carb per tablespoon. So, if you're used to using 2 tablespoons of mayo in your tuna salad and you replace that amount with the light mayo, you've added 2 net carbs to that tuna salad, which probably had 1 net carb (if that) with the regular stuff.

What I do is use less added fat and for OWL, 'less' fat typically means 1/2 tablespoon less than what you usually use. It takes very little added fat to make your diet "high" fat (meaning over 50% total calories coming from fat). It always worries me when I read the Induction threads stating "I eat alot of mayo or butter with everything"----you don't need to add "alot".

I really would avoid anything called 'light' or 'low fat'. They just add sugar to make it taste better. One of the great things about this WOL is that we don't have to eat yucky low fat stuff. I would avoid it because of the carbs. Your fat will go down naturally because of the added veggies, as long as you only feed your hunger. Its good that you are going on to OWL!

I have a small jar of Hellman's light that has been camping out in my fridge forever, On the ingredient list is water, soybean oil, vinegar, whole eggs, and egg yolks, modified corn starch, sugar, salt, lemon juice...etc....

So on induction I would definetely avoid it and it does have 1 carb per Tbsp which could really add up with my daily tuna fish salad lunch rut...LOL

I started using sour cream instead of mayo and that works perfect for me
