Default Review my typical menu?

I've been on Atkins since January and am now keeping things loose as far as legumes... I was hoping you guys could tell me if what i'm eating in a typical day is ok or if I need to change?

breakfast is always 2 slices bacon and 2 eggs omelet style with one half slice american cheese (kraft deli style) melted in between

lunch will be 1 cup chooped lettuce with 1/4 cup shredded (off the bar) sharp cheddar cheese, 1 diced hard boiled egg, a slice of bacon crumbled (leftover from breakfast), and about a tsp of no carb ranch or beu cheese dressing

dinner (tonight) consisted of 6 oz spiral sliced ham, 1/4 cup italian green beans, and 1/4 cup black eyed peas

snack through the day was a sausage patty and 1/4 cup nuts (almonds, brazils, cashews, pecans)

Am I doing alright? Eating too much, too less? Not enough fat or protein? I drink well past the minimum amount of water per day... sometimes i'll have a diet coke, but only if i've had all my water. Any pointers would be very appreciated.

I was about to move this thread to the review my menu section, but as I look at your menu, it seems like you are attempting to do a "modified OWL" (remaining at Induction level carbs while adding OWL foods in OWL amounts).

Nuts on Atkins is measured in terms of ounces, not cups. Each nut has its own carb count. For example, 1 ounce of cashews has about 8-9 net carbs. 1 ounce of macadamia nuts has about 2 net carbs. So ditch the cup measurements when it comes to measuring nuts, because it's not a one-size fits all thing.

Same thing applies to those black eyed peas. Black-eyed peas are about 15 net carbs per 1/2 cup. 1/4 cup of those beans will be about 7.5 net carbs. That's over the 5 net carb additions for OWL phase.

Moreover, you're not eating enough vegetables. The 3 cups of Induction veggies are the minimum daily veggie intake throughout all the phases of Atkins. If you are doing the modified OWL, you replace non-vegetable carbs for the 5 net carbs of OWL Ladder foods. Non-vegetable carbs are cream, eggs, cheese, artificial sweeteners, carby meats (like bacon and other processed meats), carby dressings, and carby condiments (vinegar, mustard, ketchup, etc.)

I'm not really following any certain pattern for eating. I loaned out my book and never got it back. I didn't mean to post in this thread at all, I just got distracted. I'm following induction for the most part, but occasionally I will have a nut snack or some black eyed peas. My weight loss is holding steady. Going by the 6 week challenge measurements I take every 6 weeks, i'm losing about 11-13 lbs in that time. I'm satisfied with that amount of lbs (and inches). I've gone from a 20 to a 14.

The best way to lose weight and get healthy is to follow Dr. Atkins plan, I am sorry if this is upsetting, but I believe this to be true. Different things do NOT always work for different people.

Well I think sometimes we should be encouraging, my gosh look at the weight she has lost! OWL is a perfect example of experimenting on what works for you and what doesn't. Your bringing in different carbs to see how you deal with it...does it stall you or doesn't it. Myself and two other people are doing Atkins, I have done followed the book the other two have used Atkins products and mixed it up and you know what? They are losing at the same pace as I am. Sometimes I feel you have to be encouraging even though its not exactly as you would do it because it's a definate change in eating habits which includes no potato chips and cookies. I really feel you can give people helpfull pointers without making them feel bad for not doing what you may be doing. I know this won't be a popular post but I had to get this off my chest. I would also like to say that many of you have been a huge help to me and I appreciate it.
Thanks

It's good to be encouraging, but it's also very difficult to answer questions and give advice when everyone isn't on the same page.

bluerain asked a question about her menu. If I had moved it to the "REview My Menu" forum, she would have been given a similar critique. When people start doing their own thing, it's hard to say if what they are doing is "right" or "wrong" because they're rules aren't necessarily the Dr. Atkins rules, as is the case here. From an OWL point of view, bluerain is doing a few things incorrectly. From an Induction point of view, she is doing many more things incorrectly.

Yes, her method might be working for her, but as I said, it's nearly impossible to give her any real advice because we don't know the parameters of her method.
