Default Protein Powder

I was just browsing the recipe section and a lot of the recipes call for Protein powder. Okay, this may be a dumb question but here it goes:

I thought that Protein Powder was supposed to help people gain weight or bulk up. Is hte stuff in the recipes the same stuff? What kind is everyone buying? And at which stage of owl is it legal?

TIA

Well, if they're put into high calories milkshakes then they do, but the rest of the time I find them great for baking! I get the same at Walmart.

I have "Synergistic Nutrition 100% Lean & Clean" in the Vanilla flavor. I got it at GNC, and it was kinda pricey, but it is soooooooooo good. It's sweetened with Stevia. Ive only made shakes with it twice in the two months since I bought it. I do use it in cooking.

Alot of people use protein powder as a flour substitute. So for the folks who like to bake low carb things, it comes in handy.

The only real caution is that your body converts excessive protein to sugar and that is stored as fat. So when you use protein powders, you need to be mindful of that "excessive protein" intake.

Default Re: Protein Powder

protein powders come in to forms high carb and low carb. high carb is for gaining low carb is for losing. it you get a protien isolate you can use it at any time. if you get a protein concentrate then you need to wait for the rung your protein is made up iof like soy is rung 6 legumes wheat and rice protein is rung 9, and whey is rung 2.

Just remember to count the carbs and keep the food in your ratio and you should be fine.

You can't use it to thicken things like gravies. But it lends some stability to baked goods when it's used with nut flour.
