| Nothing but NOTHING is going to waste. You are doing GREAT. Start tomorrow where you left off, there is no need to change anything based on one week. You were very sick a couple weeks ago, your body is still hanging on to it's stores. Have you been measuring too? I would guess you've lost inches even if you haven't lost pounds. About the cream. If the serving size says "0" for carbs, it can have up to .99 grams carb. Cream has about .4-.5/Tbsp. You can have 3-4 T/day on induction according to DANDR, but no limit that I can see once in OWL. Now, it's very high fat, low nutritive value, so you still want to be careful. Now that you're in OWL too, you can swtich to half and half if you like and off set the fat a bit. So yes, you can have more than 1T or 2T, count it as about .5 carb/T. About the birthday party. One day w/o your veggies is not going to derail you. Do better tomorrow. One idea in future is to offer to bring veggies and dip or a veggie salad. About the time to eat/planning/kids. (tough love coming) You have to figure out your priorities. We are all busy. I chase a 3.5 yo and carry a 25# 9 mo old...usually at the same time!!! They are both allergic to milk and eggs and nuts, and you know how early eaters are about meat, so we are on TOTALLY different eating plans, the only things we share at all are the veggies, fruit and occassional grains. You can't just not have time to eat, your kids need you to take care of YOU first. Hard boiled eggs, string cheese, deli meat rollups are all extremely portable. Also pay attention to what you're feeding them, and as you learn more about this WOE, you may find you want to modify some of what they eat too. I REALLY have to commend you Kimberly, you are doing so great sticking to this WOE and you are asking great questions and really trying to make this work for you. I hope you see some results tomorrow, but if you don't, don't sweat it, you will soon! If you work the plan, you WILL change your body. And feel better and more energy and all the other benefits to this WOE and exercise. Hugs Denise |

| Thankyou so much for the great advice and for also reassuring me that I didn't mess myself up. So now that I am in OWL should I cut my fat intake a little bit, like with the cream thing I should use half and half instead of heavy cream? |

| You are using fitday to keep track of your foods. Your protein should stay about 30%. As you add carbs, you'll have to decrease fat to keep protein at 30%. I have done this successfully exactly one day. Because I love the fat. I'm always working on it, and half and half is one pretty painless way to cut some fat but not flavor. Chicken vs beef is another, little less cheese, little less butter. But, you need to keep the protein up to contribute to muscle mass I think, but you never want to OVERDO the protein, because your body converts that to glycogen same as carbs. It's a tough balance to find I think and still satisfy your hunger. |

| I've been using Fitday but there are some days where I can't find the foods I eat or if I try to put say 1/4 cup in it won't let me. I tried to put in hamburger patty today and it didn't give me an option for that without the bun. Grrr somtimes this gets so frustrating! |

| Yeah, fitday can be a real pain. For hamburgers, I usually just put in "ground beef" in the size that the hamburger was (1/4 lb, 1/2 lb, etc.)... sometimes there are fillers in burgers that other people (or restaurants) cook but I have no clue what's in them in that case so neither would my fitday. I read about your day, and I felt bad that you beat yourself up about it. I think you did a good job given the circumstances and what would have been horrible would have been taking a "screw it" attitude and eating whole platefuls of macaroni salad. But you didn't do that. You were STRONG. Maybe your planning wasn't the best, but I've done the same myself. It's important that you can bring this WoE into your real life, and let's face it, for some (myself included), real life isn't always perfect. A day without veggies isn't a huge deal in the grand scheme of your life and your relationship with this way of eating. I think you should be proud for sticking as closely to your plan as you could at that party. You know, the scale really is evil. That's why I only weigh once a month. Personally, my water weight goes up and down so radically 3 weeks out of the month are meaningless to me! It's perfectly normal to see no loss for a bit and then a whoosh. Don't stress, give your body some time, and keep up the good work with your eating. This WoE works. You will see results.

| if you are 9in OWL and on the nut rung you already passed the fresh dairy rung where you can add more cream if cream dosen't slow or stop your weight loss. Weight loss isn't a linear thing we didn't gain it some every week and we will not lose it at a steady rate all the way to goal. there will be up days down days and flat days bit the overall trend will be downward. Since you allow the scale to effect how you value your hard work stay away from it and make friends with your tapemeasure so you can watch the inches of fat being shed as you morph your body doing your Atkins adding lean body tissue while shedding the fat mass.

| I didn't know that about the cream - yikes. Sometimes I have as much as 1/2 cup a day... I use it a lot in my recipes. It doesn't seem to stall me though...

| I bought FitDay for the PC last year instead of using the online version. I am able to chose Cups and then change the quantity to .25 if I had a quarter cup of something. I can also add a bunch of custom foods (like my salad dressings and often-made recipes). It's been so long since I've used the online version, so I don't know if it offers the same options. Just last week I finally boiled a 1/2 dozen eggs to keep in my fridge. It has been sooo nice to just grab an egg if I was running out the door without breakfast. Now, I didn't have any veggies with it, so it wasn't the *best* breakfast. However, I ate something and that's the point. I also have slices of deli cheese available all the time. Maybe this week I'll cut up some peppers and celery for a grab-n-go accompaniment. You're doing great by asking all the questions. I just finished boot camp and I would recommend that you try to sign up for the next session in July. It really helped my *think* about the foods that I was eating and how everything fit together. |
