| this is why you need to check your menu for the whole day ahead of time as you learn to do your Atkins. once you have been doing it a while you will learn where you need to add fats/ think of yourself as a car that runs on the Atkins ratio every meal should be in that ratio. you don't fuel a car that runs on super with 3 tanks of regular and one of premium to get the right octane ofr the day. you ran too lean and too right all day even though the final mix was correct. Get your dinner to an Atkins correct for it you can advance your callander one day on fitday and plug your dinner into it and get it correct. if you have any cravings later or other sugar symptoms found in chaopter 12 of your DANDR you can have a high fat snack like cream cheese to deepen your ketosis.

| Sometimes I find by trying it in advance in fitday as 2big suggested I can eat a little less protein to make the ratios work out right.

| Your fat % will also get lower as you climb the rungs of OWL. 2big is 65% not supposed to be the induction %?

| From my understanding, the protein level stays the same thoughout (30%) Orginial/induction carb level (5%) rises as the originial/induction fat level (65%) decreases.... Oh god, please tell me that's right! LOL

| The protein percentage stays about 30% throughout our Atkins---Atkins is not a high protein diet. As we go through OWL, the fat percentage decreases slightly, because we are increasing our carbs. Unless you are eating more protein, the amount of added fat you will eat during OWL is the same amount you ate during Induction or decreases by 1 tablespoon (about 100 calories) a day. Deciding to not add a tablespoon or 2 of added fat depends on a number of things, including which rung you are in and what foods you are planning to eat during the day. If you are on the rung 1, you keep your added fat to the same amount you ate during Induction because the additional 5 net carbs of the veggies will slightly lower the fat percent. If you are on rung 2, the nuts you eat contain a high amount of fat, so you can decrease your added fat by 1/2 to 1 tablespoon of fat, depending on what your menu is for the day. Rung 3, the additional 5 net carbs of dairy contains fat, so it's not necessary to add more fat to your daily menu, but it might be necessary to not add a tablespoon or two to it. Again, it all depends on what you plan to eat during the day.

| I personally find that it is not always possible to find out what you are eating until you;ve eaten it - but that you can kind of work out if it's going to tip the percentages the longer you do it. I am not going to worry too much if every now and then the fat and protein are in an imbalance - as long as the carbs stay low.

Today, I know that I'm going to be eating cabbage (coleslaw I made last night), leftover pork chop, tomatoes, basil, salmon, broccoli or cauliflower (haven't decided yet), strawberries and cheese. I've already eaten red/pink beans and cream cheese (a spread I make) on a rye cracker for breakfast. As for the protein...you don't want to eat too much of it. DANDR Chapter 18 Quote:
