It's interesting to read your stories. I can identify with the way you guys describe your perception of your body. I honestly don't think I can view myself as I am. I have been on both extremes at some point in my life. At one point, I wasn't eatting at all and weighed 90 pounds, thinking I was still fat. Then at another time I weighed 190 and thought I looked fine. So now when I see myself, I don't feel confident in whatever I think I'm seeing. I always wonder how others see me. I hate being dependant on others' perception of me for my self-worth and confidence.

I started on nuts yesterday, just one tablespoon of natural peanut butter. I feel like I'm still very much trying to figure this out. I've been fanatical about doing everything just right, so my only slip was when I got grew frustrated with my plateau and ate waffles with a couple of beers two weeks ago. Not the best idea, but I didn't beat myself up about it and just got back on induction the very next morning which fixed the damage.

I've started losing again, albeit slowly which is fine with me. 1-2 a week would still be fantastic. I'm really hoping I can get to 150 or 151 by my birthday May 7th. Then I will definately be in my prepregnancy jeans again - something I've been trying to do since my baby was born 2 years ago this June. I can get them on now, but they are very tight in the thighs, always my problem area. After that I hope to lose another 7-10 by July 4th. That'll be the lowest I've been in years. Then maybe goal by my hubby's birthday October 22nd. We'll see how things go in the next few months.

I'm still working out 4-5 days a week. I only can go during my lunch which gives me about 30 mins with the drive back and forth then changing. But I try to work very hard in that 30 mins so it will be worth the time. It's only $10/mo for the gym so it's worth the short drive rather than $50/mo across the street! I'm starting to do weights more than cardio, switching things, because in the past that seemed to help me more to lose weight - when I started building muscle. Plus hubby digs buff arms

Thank you guys for all of your help and support. I still get a hard time from people when they hear I'm doing Atkins, but I don't care. One friend of mine started this last Monday and I'm really pulling for her that it helps her as much as it has me. A girl here at work asked me how I felt since it was so unhealthy losing weight so quickly she thought. I told her I'd never felt better. I meant it!

I'm a longtime low carber who is only now working my way through the rungs properly. I've enjoyed it, but I began OWL with my weight a bit higher than I like it, didn't lose much, so I'm back to Induction until it stabalizes.

I'll admit that I am frustrated. My foods are fine, but I am not losing. I wonder if I can only lose on Induction. I see people losing at 50,60, 70g of net carbs and wonder what I'm doing wrong. But I'm a by-the-book girl, so again, not seeing progress pisses me off. I want to weigh 125 pounds, a perfectly healthy weight for my height, but my body is laughing at me. Can I really not lose at 30 grams of carbs a day? That's fine, but I had hoped for more.

I lift weights with cardio 3- 4 times a week. I enjoy it. Mostly.

No one bugs me about this WOE. I've been low carbing for 4 years and so they know better. I feel better, I look better, and I like what I eat. I went to Italy for a month last year and got off track with all of the yummy Italian panini and other goodies, but I'm back on track now and back within my normal weight range.

So there it is...not a cheerful rendition of the Atkins song at the moment. I love this WOE but I wish my body would comply. And...OWL is more like Premaintenance for me, which makes me wonder if I'll ever get to eat beans or plantain again (I was on the berry rung at 30 grams of carbs per day).

Anyhoo.

I am on the berry rung and so far have been doing very well testing things out and having no trouble controlling portions. Right now I'm struggling with percentages though, getting my calories right (they are usually too low as I'm not all that hungry) and my fat percentage is too high....I think once I lower the fat, increase my exercise, my appetite will come back and hopefully I can keep myself satisfied without going over the limit on fats.

It's a tough juggle that's for sure!

i have just joined the owl crowd.I was too afraid to quit the extended induction and the first day i ate 20 grams carbs i was freking out ...but now 1 week into owl i'm starting to accept and learn more about it..

I have not cheated since i've started and this surprized people and myself..i'm so proud.

This board is very supportive and helpful, hope you continue your support through the rungs...I think i need some help understanding the climbing process.

cheers.

Hi! I finally faced my fears of having to actually do some work by keeping more track of things and getting out of my comfort zone and for the first time in all 3 times of doing this diet, Im moving up the ladder.

Im now on the diary rung. Even though I never had a problem getting board with the food, I am finding it exciting to eat new things and see how they effect me. I am definately struggling with intaking enough cals and such.

Portion control is still an issue. Not always but sometimes. I am going to start only using saucers instead of the big plates because I want to fill them up with meat. Yep, too much protein lately. Everything else is great. I am still losing, just a bit slower than the first time and second time around. this is to be expected though.

I cant wait for the berry rung! I miss fresh blue berries. Sure would liven up breakfast, lol.

I hope to be back in my old pants that I had lost down to last time around before getting pregnant. They are 18s and im in a snug 20 now so it doesnt seem like a lot. I should be able to do it. I am noticing though that since having another baby, my fat shifted yet again and Im not shaped the same as I was last time at the same weight. So, that sucks.

I have even more belly this time if thats possible.

I was doing awesome with getting my exercise in for a few weeks there but now I force myself. The SWEC helps. If it werent for that I wouldnt do it at all. Well, speaking of that, I have been slacking so Im going to hit that treadmill, then maybe some crunches.

I was so afraid to leave induction that my weight loss would slow and even though everyone else atested that that wasnt the case, I still knew even if I did continue to lose, Id have to change things yet again such as start counting carbs again (I got so used to my same old menu I didnt have to most days) and weighing, measuring, etc. However this is how we learn to eat for life so I have to start sometime and better sooner than later. It actually isnt bad so far. IM enjoying it.

Would I be imposing if I wanted to start a Summer 2008 OWL Roll Call thread? I'm fairly new here and don't want to overstep my bounds
