| I'll let you slide this one time, since you didn't know, you actually sounded proud of it, so you can come out of hiding now, and the bet is still one. |

| Liz, I did the same thing until somebody told me otherwise! I thought, hey, it's a squash, so it must be legal...I figure you'd rather know than NOT know.

Thanks Julie for letting me know... ya know, that was a huge surprise to me as I have been eating it all along (not very oftain though) thinking it was a legal veggie... hmmm explains a lot! I even looked at the book before you said something and it never registered...duh! Well, ya know how you have to learn something everyday? well, I'm done now. I can cross that off my list of things to do. Thanks Michelle for giving me another chance... I was proud... pride goes before a fall ya know... lol! at least I don't have pie on my face... btw I sent all the desserts home with the cousins... so no temptations there. okay... maybe I'll do another day of induction since I screwed this one up! lol! liz |

| Ok so I think I can have MUP (pumpkin) on induction if I leave out the cream cheese. Does that sound right? Everything else is legal on induction I think. Last edited by Sweet Strudel; September 17th, 2007 at 06:19 PM. Reason: typo |

Hey Everybody... just found this thread. If I was better about visiting journals, I would have known that some of you were struggling... sorry about that. I haven't cheated since my restart in late February, but I hope that I can sit in with y'all. So far, my rate of losing has been something that I can live with, but I am sure that certain issues that need addressing may crop up as I approach Pre-Maintenance. As you may remember from other posts that I have made, I have been experimenting with eliminating cottage cheese and greek yogurt. I am in week 3 of having neither to see if they slow me. I miss them! But it won't be long. I had to eliminate berries a long time ago... it was easy to determine they were trouble for me. I'm glad that you don't miss fruit that much Julie... I was afraid that it might bum you out not to have it. I have been eating tons of veggies lately... I guess technically, I have been eating at Rung 1 for going on 3 weeks now at up to 40 net carbs... usually don't get that many in. Been getting good amounts of veggie carbs. The Veggie Challenge will take place in October, and I have been noting my veggie carbs in my stats lately to practice for it. I think that challenge was a defining event for me as far as succeeding with Atkins by embracing veggies... so, y'all will probably see me talking it up around the board as the time draws near. Looking forward to hearing more from everyone.

| Yayyyyyyyyy Mitzi! Welcome aboard! Of course we'd love to have you! Great news that cream cheese is legal on induction. I must have missed that when reading thru the induction legal food again today. I know I can have a cup of pumpkin if I have only 2 cups of the salad veggies...so tomorrow morning its MUP for brekky! Seems this WOL is all about adjusting, experimenting, tweaking until we get it right. Even then seems that a food that we used to be able to eat with no problems starts to give us problems. I imagine most of the time it is from over indulging in it. So, this lifestyle seems to be a work in progress for us all, even the veterans! Dinner tonight. I was going to have chicken and a veggie, but was just not in the mood. Ever since Disco said bacon this morning I've been craving it...so I had 4 slices of extra crisp bacon and 2 fried eggs and two sliced raw mushrooms. Later on I will have celery with a little cream cheese for a snack and thats it for day 1. One more bottle of water to go and I will have downed 5 - 16 oz bottles...whew! Lets do this everyone!!!!! |

| Hey girls (and guys), I stepped back about a month or so ago. I've drastically cut things back and its working for me really well. I eat nothing but fatty cuts of meat, vegetables (35-40 net with 25-30 per day of Fiber), butter, olive oil and mayonnaise. I use Dukes sugar free mayonnaise, and only 2-3 tbspn per day. I've found that eating processed meats (and maybe even cheese) will put 2-3 pounds on me IMMEDIATELY. This includes bacon, luncheon meats, etc. Keep in mind, I cut out cheese as well. I'm hoping that some day I can add it back in, but I found that I was absolutely abusing dairy products and artificial sweetner. In an effort to control the ROAR of my body for these foods, I've cut them all out. I'm feeling much more peaceful now, and I'm losing weight too. The peaceful feeling is wonderful and worth the "sacrifice." Mitzi I'm so glad to hear your POV on the veggies. They are so important and actually should be the majority of our diet. Think about our plates, in OWL, the portions should be MOSTLY veggie, with meat as a side dish and fat as a condiment. The higher rung foods also could be CONDIMENTS. Berries on a salad, or cooked into a sauce. Dairy as condiment too-cream sauce, butter, etc. Beans on a salad or cooked into a soup, etc. Finally being able to picture this in my head has been very beneficial. Veggies should be the main course.
