Default SLOOOOOOOOOOOWWWW Losers?

Hey, just want to give a shout out to see if there are any other slowwwww losers like me? Cheat free for 3 months, running a pretty clean rung 1/2 OWL, and losing maybe 2 pounds a month for the last two months, bouncing up one for every two down. My exponential curve turned linear pretty quickly.

To lose weight at my BMR, I need to stay below 1700, and I tend to function around 1500, so that's only a negative of 200 calories a day. Takes about 2 weeks for that to come close to 3500 (one pound's worth of calories). So really, my weight loss is reasonable. Just frustrating. Yay Atkins, because I am rarely hungry and so can live at this pace, but just would love to be at goal already.

It's hard not to lose focus when it is this slow, and in OWL you have to keep focus - have to measure and plan and stick to it. I don't cheat, but I do lose focus and sometimes eat too much.

Just here to b*tch. Anyone else in the same boat, wishing this was speeding along?

It's not a wonder why your weight loss is slow. Your BMI for your height is between 123 to 165. So your body might be resisting those pounds because it's at a comfortable weight already.

You might want to get your %body fat measured to see if that, too, is in the normal range for you.

Thank you, Promise and Not2L8.

My body and I have had a recent falling out.

5 years ago, prior to the birth of my two children, we had a nice agreement. If I didn't go bananas, I (mostly) brainlessly maintained a weight of 125 to 135 for...20 or so years. I worked in industries where appearance was important and developed a vast and gorgeous wardrobe appropriate to my figure and career.

Baby #1 came, along with 60 pounds, and went, taking 65 with her. Body's end of the agreement was held up.

Baby #2 came, along with 50 pounds and went, taking only 20 or so with him. 2 years passed. And those other 30 pounds hunkered down and made themselves comfortable. Poured themselves a cup of coffee.

The clothes, sleek and glittery on the hangers, whined and fretted like the models that they were meant to adorn. Designer buttons fell to the floor like teardrops. Jeans, in neatly folded piles, got dusty. Body feined indfference.

Victims of assault take back the night. I want to take back my wardrobe. I know that it's ok by the USDH if I weigh 165, but it's not a place where I am comfortable in my own skin, and darnit - there are some cute outfits in my closet beconing me. A lot of my shoes still don't fit and I will cut off my baby toes before throwing that kind of investment down the drain.

I am very close. And I know that it gets harder the closer you get, but not impossible. I have seen some amazing people and amazing achievements on this site. I just want to be one of them, myself. Sometimes we need it the most when we're nearly at the end and folks figure we don't need help any more.

I'm losing even more slowly than you! It's hard not to get discouraged, since I have tried nearly everything since February and I'll lose a couple and bounce back up three.

I lost 102 pounds in 10 months, and it took almost another year to lose 16 more and keep them off. I am currently losing size again, without the scale showing an ounce gone.

I've joined a couple of challenges to help keep me focused and would love to just lose 2 pounds a month. It will happen when I find the real thing that gets it moving again.

Sunny!

Sunnysmile, that is so encouraging! I knew it would be helpful to hear from other folks in the same boat. I haven't tried any of the challenges yet (work +school + husband out of the country + 2 small children...the list goes on) but that's a great idea to keep the focus up. Which types have been your favorites? What things have shown the greatest results?

I'm in the same boat with Sunny. We are sailing along and not looking back, but not as fast as we did in the beginning. I lost 90 pounds the first year. I lost 20 pounds the second year and now in my third year, I've lost 10. I'm not whinning...I'm excited as I'm still losing and even tho my body isn't losing as fast, I know I'll make it to goal. I feel great, I'm still losing inches and I will never give up.

I am currently on the How Long Can You Go? (without cheating) challenge and the Muffin Butts clothes challenge. Both are keeping me motivated. The Muffin Butt challenge is closed and finished at Thanksgiving, so I hope someone comes up with another one that runs through Christmas. We all had to take a picture in pants or a dress that is really tight, but you feel that you can fit in by the end of the challenge. It is a fun thread. Maybe we can start a winter one, like I'm Melting Snowman, that runs through the winter holidays. I have two awesome Christmas dress/suits I want to be in by Christmas. I haven't worn them for several years.

Challenges keep me honest & motivated, because I seldom break a pledge made to others.

I am currently forbidden to do exercise of any kind, by more than one doctor. I've been told I can exercise again 6 weeks after my surgery on October 17, so that will be at the end of November. Then, I will join some exercise challenges again. Woo hoo! I can't believe this couch potato misses exercise so much!

Sunny!

You ladies are awesome. You've really made my day. My current experience is somewhat different than a lot of the folks on the board so it's been particularly encouraging to hear from someone who is at the slow stage too. I'd join a challenge like the muffin butt one, but my loss is so unpredictable that I am worried that even if I follow the OWL rules exactly, I might be setting myself up for failure. I'd like to think I could lose 5 pounds in a month, but I am not really sure from week to week if I am even losing.

I wish someone would do a "No Coffee" challenge. Can we make a request to the moderators? It's my worst weakness and I almost always have one cup too many. Decaf or no, the carbs and calories add up. Could be part of what's crippling me.

The thing that has reaped the best results was to go back to induction for 14 days and climb the ladder again--without the foods that I know stall me (nuts, most dairy and all grain, including flax). It has not been easy, but it produced results. So has weighing on Monday and Friday. I got lax and was forgetting to weigh even every Friday and things would get out of hand rather quickly.

If those of us that are struggling close to the finish line stick together and support each other, we can ALL do it. I'm sorta scared to get to goal, because the real struggle will then begin.
