Default pumpkin question

Lately at night I haven't been in the mood to eat meat again. I was never really a meat eater before I started this wol and the grease gets to me. I have been having a cup and a half of pumpkin for dinner. I do not go over my 30 carbs for the day and I do not go over 1500 calories for the day (my calories seem to matter in my weightloss). My percentages are 70-74% fat, 6-7% carbs, 15-17% protein. Do you think it is ok to just have pumpkin for dinner?

Yesterday's menu

4 slices bacon
1.5 ounces cheddar cheese
4 tablespoons butter
6 chicken wings with hotsauce/butter sauce
small salad (lettuce, tomatoe, onion, cesear dressing)
1/2 of a muffin in a minute
1.5 cups pumpkin with 3 tablespoons of butter and 1 packet of splenda

I know it does not seem like much food, but I ate until I was full. It just worries me cause the last few days have been like this and unlike my usual menus. TOM is visting so maybe he is messing with me, but anytime there is a change in my eating patterns I worry.

Yep. I don't eat much meat, either, so I frequently have "just" veggies for dinner. Sometimes just pumpkin, sometimes a different veggie.

thanks for the comment Evermind. I was worried cause for so long now I have had a meat and veggie with each meal. Before this wol, I craved beef during TOM even. These last 2 days the thought of meat makes me sick to my stomach. Its just so weird. But I am glad it can be done cause I have learned to listen to my body so I am going to go this way till I need something else.

Dr. Atkins envisioned that we would ultimately not be so dependent on meat for protein. He recommended that as we move up the rungs and when we are in maintenence that we start getting more and more of our protein from non-meat sources.

I personally just started the entire program that way, lol!

We're supposed to eat combinations of fats, proteins and carbs with our meals because the fats and the proteins slow the digestion of the carbs, so our blood sugars don't spike and because the proteins and fats help keep us satisfied between meals.

If you don't like fatty meats, don't eat them. Eat lean meats like white meat chicken or turkey, fish and shellfish. If you eat pork, eat that. They've bred pork to be leaner than they were 10 years ago. Also soy protein is an option.

By the way, your fat % is way too high for OWL or even Induction. On OWl and Induction the fat % hovers in the low 60s-upper 50s.

I keep my fat percentage up high because I have found that if it is 70-75% I tend to lose the most weight. I have experimented with reducing it but when I do I either slow to a crawl or stop losing.

Then you might want to try eating "lean" proteins and adding the fat, if fatty meat/protein is giving you a problem.

Have you plugged your menues into fitday to see what you're doing in terms of calories? Fat supplies 9 calories per gram. So if you need to have the fat percentage that high, it could be you simply aren't eating enough.

That is a good thought. I do use fitday to check my carbs, percentages, and calories. However, I have just been doing it every few days or so. back when i first started I was making sure I did it daily. Thanks for the help. I tend to forget to eat when I am busy and I bet there have been days I am slacking. Thanking about it it is 2pm today and so far I have had 1/2 a muffin in a minute and water. I am off to find some food.
