| Hello What Rung are you on? You can have Berries on Rung 4 Berries, and you can have peaches on Rung 7 Fruit other than berries or melon. I love my berries with fresh whipped cream. Yummo! Sherri

| I eat berries with cheese or fresh whipped cream. It slows down the "sugar rush" to your system. It helps to keep your blood sugar stable instead of it jumping then crashing. |

| cheese goes with apples, and so does peanut butter (my favourite). Cottage cheese, and yogurt might help too. I find I can eat fruit after a meal, or as long as I've eaten recently with no problem (I guess the fats/proteins are still digesting..it' helps). I wouldn't eat fruit by itself if i was starving...otherwise i'm usually ok to have as a snack after a meal.

| I don't think there is anything in the book saying you have to eat fat with fruit. Atkins mentions how luxurious it is to be able to eat berries with non-sugar sweetened whipped cream. But he doesn't say you have to. I have never heard the thing about the fats slowing down the sugar rush, but it may be true. I think you are ok with or without the added fats, as slong as you are sticking to the allowed fruits, depending on how you react to it. |

| I always try to have a fat or protein with fruit, or eat the fruit right after a meal, as Jen suggested. It definitely helps keep the blood sugar more stable. Last edited by mitzimarie; June 7th, 2008 at 07:19 AM. |
