| I'm a starchy carb addict. My carbs of choice are potatoes, rice, and pasta. So, I was very hesistant to try out the starchy vegetables. But I did anyway, and found that carrots, beets, rutabagas, yams/sweet potatoes, and other root veggies, didn't cause me to binge. And potatoes....well, I tried them and frankly, they didn't taste as good as I had remembered them. Ditto for rice, when I got to the grains rung. Pasta and other wheat-based foods made my nose run and my asthma act up, so I avoided it. So I would suggest that you try out the rungs---being very careful to stick to the 5 net carb limits. And see what happens.

| I'm so frustrated. I don't have cravings or even really want starchy veggies or fruits. He doesn't even eat them and it's so easy to just not even have them around. Forcing myself to eat them just so I can go through a rung I am having to deal with daily is just... *grumbles*

| Well, if you really want to skip those rungs, go right ahead. And save them for pre-maintenance.

| I've always heard if it is a rung that you don't intend to eat or drink from (like alcohol) you are free to skip it. But just don't throw that item in willy nilly just because you have moved above it. If you later want to add it you need to introduce it just like you would have the first time around to find how your body reacts to different things. |
