| You are right - you don't get many grapes for 5 net carbs ![]() I added them to fruit salads with berries and the lower rung fruits when I tried adding them. Or sliced them and sprinkled them over a salad

| It's roughly 1 net carb per grape. But I do what Elizellen does: halve them or quarter them to use as an ingredient in another food. I've gotten out of the habit of "snacking" or eating handfuls of something. That's a positive for me, because I used to eat practically around the clock.

| I was amazed by how much natural sugar is in the grapes when I looked it up!! They just tasted like a no no!! Then I remembered what Dr. Atkins said about eating fruits and the weight loss stopping. NO THANK YOU!! Never thought I'd make it this far and don't want to mess up further progress because of grapes!! I think I'll pick up some other fruits and offer the grapes to company when they come today! I'd rather eat strawberries anyway, right? Thank goodness they're on sale and in season!! |

| Lots of fruits have natural sugar. how you react to them is individual. For example, I can't eat cantaloup (causes cravings), but I don't have a problem with watermelon, mangos, bananas, pineapple, grapes, etc. And some foods that don't taste overtly sweet have a good deal of natural sugars like legumes, starchy veggies and grains. Since OWL is the time to test your body, I say, test the grapes. IF they don't work, then you know. If they do, you have an addition to your menu.

| I can eat a few grapes now and then. Water melon is also very high glycemic (more so than the other melons) so be careful with it. The fruits that are lower on the glycemic scale (and the ones that I eat more out of) are apple, grapefruit, pear, peaches, cherries.

| Peaches, pears and apples!!! Wow, this may just be the rung that hangs me!! Oh, they sound wonderful. I was just sure the kiwi would do something awful because of how enjoyable it was! Speaking of which, there's one more in the fridge! I must eat that before I go out to do yard work! If I crave anything, there will be no time to give in and I'll be too dirty to walk into the kitchen! LOL! Thanks for your advice, ladies!! I feel like I've finally hit an "advanced" rung and advice from people with experience here is sooooo appreciated! Think I might try the grapes for 3 days for one week. There's no sense or lesson in not knowing. Not sure I can handle a 5 carb serving of them though! Maybe 10 and more time on the rowing machine!! |

| PS, I freeze fruits too. Frozen grapes are nice "ice cubes" in drinks. I cut pineapple and melons into box shapes, insert a wooden popsicle stick and freeze them----instant no-sugar added, all natural frozen treat. Or I toss the fruit into a blender and puree them, swirl in some heavy cream or sour cream, and freezer them in popsicle molds. If you carefully measure them, they will be the 5 net carb amounts and make awfully nice desserts or drinks (chop the popsickle, put into a glass, fill with seltzer water or plain water) during the summer.
