| Liv is awesome and answered everything beautifully. I would like to put my two cents in and say that in my experience, moving on to OWL is the best thing to do. Dr. Atkins does talk about reasons to continue extended induction. One of which is if you do have a lot to lose. So, no one could fault you for staying there. BUT - I think that it is more important to learn to keep the weight off. To really learn how to make your way through the rungs. I have reached goal before by going extended induction the whole way and yes, it was fast. Of course, I didn't learn a thing about maintenance doing that and guess what? I am here again at the beginning of OWL. Thus, I am a strong supporter of OWL and learning everything you can along the way.

Don't use a standard of 2 cups for your OWL, because 2 cups of lettuce is about 2 net carbs and 2 cups of pumpkin puree is about 20 net carbs! Your OWL additions are always 5 net carbs, with the exception of nuts/seeds which are limited to 1 ounce (cashews are limited to 1/2 ounce.)

| Thanks so much ladies. Glad to know I am good on what I know thus far. I'm still not sure what I want to do as for moving up or not b/c I do still want to loose so much weight, but at the same time I would love to be able to eat from rung 1,2,3 &4... and I believe if I could do that, then I would be able to stay there forever!!! I had done a "low-carb" "high-fat" before where I would eat my meat, cheese, mayo, nuts (cashew, peanuts, almonds) and an additional 20-25 net carbs a day. Now those additional carbs "treats" was either a Hersey Candy Bar or a glass of chocolate milk every single day!!! And I lost 99 pounds doing this. Of course life changed and I went off, but gained back very slowly and 2 pregnancies later.... Yes, that is right, no veggies!!! So this time first I want to do it healthy and thankfully I do love veggies, secondly based upon that way of eatting it seems my body honestly looses fairly well and that these other things don't seem to affect my system to much. Trying to eat "healthy" over the past year or so is why I desided to do Atkins once and for all b/c I realize each time I eat baked goods or breads (wheat or white) I would gain, not loose, even if all other was balanced. So I guess my last question (which I know is my own choice) is can I move up the rung to get to the berries and stay there until I'm closer to goal? Is there any type of modified plan like that or if I move up I need to keep moving? Thanks again for so much knowledgable guidance! |

| I'm on the berry rung and love my strawberry yogurt smoothies... I'll be skipping rung 5 since I don't drink, and the only think on rung 6 that interests me is refried beans, but they seem to be very carby, so I'ma thinkin that I'll be here on rung 4 for a while... I have enough variety that I don't feel the need to keep going up, besides I still have a lot of weight to lose and that means I have plenty of time to figure out the CCLL etc... |

| Sure, I've been on Rung 1 for weeks...I keep toying with moving up to rung 2...but I can't find a yogurt that's appropriate...I will move up soon though.
