Default Off plan for six days now

I don't even know what to say. I don't how this happened. A friend had sushi night for us. Sushi. I could have said, no thanks, I am on a low carb diet, I can come but I will bring...

I could have said, no thanks, not tonight...

I DID say **** Yeah. I would love to... Sushi is great. I don't care about my health anymore. I can eat this and just watch my calories tomorrow. I don't need this WOE. I will have a beer or two while I am at it.

The result is ... you know... I have lost every bit of energy I had. I feel stuffed, sick and bloated just because I had a bowl of pasta. I cannot even clear the table.

I can't possibly get back on plan now because I have to go back to work tomorrow and I can't get to the grocery to prepare. Can't do it this week-end because the in-laws come in the week for a week and well, not sure what that has to do with the price of tea anywhere.

THEN, can't do it in October because we are going on vacation to Tuscany and well, gee. Then, don't get me started on November. I thought I would be clothes shopping, but I won't be. I will still be fat and even fatter than I am right now. I am going "home" for three weeks and that means eating everything that is bad for me that I cannot get here.

After that, well, Christmas, and we ALL know we can't do this at Christmas.

Folks, I have been around a long time on this board. Can you believe this? This is a person who is DECIDING to wait until New Years to get it right? Again with the New Years? Because delaying is putting it off until New Years, right. What is that about. You should see me. I have my fat p.j.'s on, am laid OUT on the couch with the laptop propped on my ridiculous belly. It is almost funny, certainly ridiculous and very sad.

I don't even know what to say for myself. Am I really going to wait until Christmas? Do you know HOW much WEIGHT I will gain between now and Christmas? I think you know.

I am ready for the beat down. I am sick to death of myself at the moment. (Oh yeah, forget exercise lately. Not this week.) Guess why? Too tired.

what the rungs mean to me:
rung 1 - more veggies
rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
rung 3 - seeds, nuts
rung 4 - berries, melon
rung 5 - wine - gotta really re-think this rung
rung 6 - beans, hummus (stay until 133)
rung 7 - other fruits (stay until 131)
rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
rung 9 - whole grains (oatmeal)
Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range (on to pre-maintenance)

Don't treat yourself like dirt. Don't make excuses. I can even eat at McDonald's and still stay on plan--so there is NO excuse.

Just because you had a cheat night that transformed into a 6-day cheat does not mean you are now going to give up on yourself and throw all the work you did until now to the garbage. And when your in-laws come, you can show them what great foods you can eat on Atkins and cook some yummy Atkins-friendly recipes. But as you said, the in-laws issue is just a rubbish excuse. You can very well do Atkins while your in-laws are visiting. You'll be in ketosis by then, happy with your foods and with your energy level back up.

Vacation to Tuscany. You're on OWL Rung 5. At this point you can enjoy most foods without feeling deprived. You should feel good on your vacation rather than fat and guilty with your food choices.

That is it, Georgiana, I am coming to see you. You cannot be that far away. You guys crack me up. I cannot get off the couch just yet because I will spill my wine. Okay, okay, just kidding. I did get up and cleaned the kitchen. I feel a little better, just knowing what I need to do.

I know you are right. I just seems like a "bad time", but I am not a newbie. I don't need to be fully prepared and have a house full of food. I know exactly what I need to do and I need to do it tomorrow.

I'm sooo proud to hear that - you don't know how many times I have been in your situation and I did stop Atkins for a couple of weeks, even months at a time and I'll tell you, it wasn't worth it AT ALL - I would eat anything but always felt wrong so it wasn't even a win-lose situation, it was a lose-lose situation...day by day I felt worse because I was getting further and further away from my goal and my motivation just felt like it was ALL for nothing. I just completed my induction today and I feel great - I have done Atkins once for 8 months straight and I lost 60lbs - thats an accomplishment that no food or cheat day will give you. I've made excuses in the past and it just brought more weight on me to struggle with and the satisfaction of eatting those foods are looonnngg gone and now I have Fat all over me to show for it.

I'm very happy you're going to continue where you left off, your body is not that "turned upset down" to have to start EVERYTHING again - its a good idea, like you said to maybe do acouple of days induction and get right back on to where you left off - From here to Dec. you are going to be sooo happy to stayed on and thinner too!! Good luck girl and don't feel bad, we all have been where you are. Just remember and ask yourself this, how bad do you really want to lose weight and get healthy?? Time flies by and you'll be shedding those pounds off!

I'm in Bremen. I think that's something like 3-4 hours from you. Could we do it the other way around? You've got better cheese in the Netherlands. A fat pajama party is always more fun when you have some good cheese.

I wanted to report on this thread that I have picked myself up, dusted myself off, and gotten back on plan. I was not prepared AT ALL. I was able to go to my little cafe at work and try to explain what I wanted on my salad. (a bit of language barrrier) I got exactly (almost) what I wanted and was then able to get to a grocery store and make it work.

Thanks to everyone who responded. I feel better already and it is only the morning of day two.
