Default Found a GREAT easy pizza crust recipe

I was craving pizza lastnight and after about 15 minutes of desperately searching the web, I found a great recipe for low carb pizza crust.

3/4 cup soy protien powder or isolate
1/2 cup cream
3 large eggs
1 tsp garlic powder (more or less to taste)
1/2 tsp basil

Preheat oven to 350 and spray cookie sheet with non-stick spray. Mix protien powder, cream and eggs in bowl with whisk until smooth. Spread out on cookie sheet.

Bake for 20 minutes.

Remove from oven. Then add sauce, cheese, and toppings. Put back in the oven and "broil" the top for a few minutes until cheese is melted and until it looks "done".

ENTIRE pizza has 5 net carbs (6 carbs - 1 fiber = 5 net) , 612 calories, 57 grams fat, 19 grams protien.

I put cheese & pepperoni on it. It was so good I ate half the pizza and ingested only 2 1/2 grams of carbs for dinner. I have to say this is one of my favorite recipes thus far.

I'll definitely have to give this a try. Homemade pizza is one of the things I miss most about carbs.

What size cookie sheet does the recipe fill? One of the big 1x2 feet ones? That's a lot of pizza crust for only 5g!

I used a 9 x 13 inch cookie sheet and it filled it completely. I cut it into 8 pieces.

I am confused about where you got the carbs from. I went to fitday and got the calculations on 2 jumbo eggs (I don't have large so i will use one less)the garlic, basil, and cream and i get 9.25 carbs less fiber of 1.188 equals 8.062 net carbs.

That is without the soy (I am going to use atkins bake mix) When I add in the atkins bake mix I get 9 more net carbs making it 17.062 just for the crust of the pizza.

Hmmm, lets work this one out.

1/2 Cup Cream - About 3.5 net carbs
3 Eggs - 1.8 net carbs
Garlic Powder - 2 net carbs (wow, had no idea garlic was that high)
Basil - negligible carbs

So 7.3 net carbs for the whole crust. If you didn't count the garlic, which many people don't do (count spices that is, as they are usually negligible, surprised garlic was so high) that comes out to his five. Soy Protein isolate has about half a gram net carb per ounce, not sure how many ounces of it are in 3/4 of a cup.... but around 4 sounds about right, so an extra 2 net carbs there brings the crust up to 9.3.

Now sauce, that really depends how much you put on and what type you use. If you get a low-carb tomato sauce and only about a teaspoon or less is spread over your piece, you are pracically zilch carb content added there. If you do the sauce heavy and/or use a sugar added sauce, that might add a gram or two.

Either way it is still very low carb, and looks delicious in that photo. I might have to try making up something like that.

Thanks for the response. I did not realize that the soy was so low in carbs. Well I am going to try it tonight. I am sure I won't eat more than 1/4 of it anyway.

I am going to use the atkin bake mix and I will let everyone know how it comes out.

Well, I got the carb count from the same website I got the recipe from:

http://www.low-carb-diet-recipes.com...zza_crust.html

I only used about 1/4 cup of low carb sauce.

I suppose the carb count could vary quite a bit depending on the products and amounts you choose to use for toppings and sauce. I hadn't really thought of that, I was just really excited to find a low carb version of my favorite food. I apologize if I misled anyone about carb count as that was not my intention of course.

If anyone tries it, I'd like to know what you think. Obviously, it's no Pizza Hut, but it's not bad considering the carb count.
