What is the carb count for this flaxseed recipe? It was really good. I bought some flaxseed a while ago and I have been scared to try it, not any more. How often should I use flaxseed anyway?

Thanks for telling us to freeze the flax! I bought some a couple of weeks ago for a couple of recipes. It has been in my pantry and as soon as I read this, I put it in the freezer.

This recipe sounds great! I used to love cream of wheat as a kid and will definately try this one!

2 TBSP ground flaxseed
For induction you are allowed 1 Tbsp of flaxseed per day.

For daily fiber supplementation
Chapter 8: "I recommend that you take one tablespoon of psyllium husks daily. Be sure to select a sugar-free product. You can also take one tablespoon of coarse wheat bran or flaxseed meal."

what type of probitics are you using?

Actually Imagood is correct, unless you are constipated. If you are, you are allowed 1 or more TBSP a day. I believe it is in induction rule 12.

12.If you are constipated, mix a tablespoon or more of psyllium husks in a cup or more of water and drink daily. Or mix ground flaxseed into a shake or sprinkle wheat bran on a salad or vegetables.

I tend to cook my flax meal with butter, splenda and cinnamon by itself till it gets hot and a little crispy, then add the cream. btw if flax isn't helping you get regular try drinking more water with it, if you dont it might just make it worse. working out regularly helps too.

You can get it at an international market or any Health Food store

only when needed. We should avoid it if we do not need to have it. It is good for regularity though but for some it can stall the weight. Extra water should be consumed if the flaxseed isnt doing any good. Lots of water is always a good things and flushes out more than just the bladder and kidneys.

Based on the below info it has .5 net carb as 7.7g of the carb is fiber but because it is a seed we have to be careful not to stall ourselves out.

Carbohydrate 8.2g
Dietary Fiber 7.7g

I think there's some confusion in this thread. Flax is perfectly legal for Induction even if you are not constipated, as long as you use it as your daily fiber supplement (limited to 1 tbsp per day). In larger quantities or if you prefer psyllium husks or wheat bran as a fiber supplement, flax is only allowed from OWL Rung 3 on.

DANDR 2002, Ch. 8:
Quote:
I recommend that you take one tablespoon of psyllium husks daily. Be sure to select a sugar-free product. You can also take one tablespoon of coarse wheat bran or flaxseed meal.
For those who want to know the carb count for flax seeds, you can check FitDay, Calorie King, the USDA database, etc.
