Default I'm Pamela and i'm an addict

I smoke crack

over coming this, although i'm still working on it, has given me a new out look on all this diet/way of life stuff. i now look at it how i look at my addiction. Although people always say its an addiction you cant really see that until you fight some other addiction....or an addiction that others see as an addiction.

anyway....just like when i want to smoke crack i have to fight it and not do it. i dont just giving in because i can start over tomorrow. I now veiw carbs like that. There is no "starting over" because falling off any waggon often means staying off for days. One cookie is just like one hit....it sucks to have gone through this but it really has made me a better and stronger person.

one other thing i have found that helps is not reading post that people post when they have cheated. Just like i am not ready nor able to hear about someone smoking crack, i cant hear about someone feeding their food addiction when i'm trying not to.

good luck everyone
anyway....if anyone has any question please ask.

congratulations on your brave post, Pamela - it's very honest and inspiring

How long have you been off the crack now?

'Well done' doesn't really cover it - you should be so proud of what you've achieved.

My name is Susan. Just like in preparation for Atkins Induction, you prepare yourself to minimize the chance of failure. Being in close proximity to either bad foods or coke is risky - like having a snake in your pocket that says, it's OK, I won't bite. DON'T take that chance!!! Distance yourself as much as you can, because those things will ALWAYS be out there. Only you can decide whether to steer clear of or invite certain downfall.

Pamela,
One of my very good and very loved girlfriends started smoking crack a few years ago and went through heck because of it! She says it's a GREAT DIET Though! (Sorry, bad attempt at humor!) She almost lost her children and says the only thing that got her off crack was Whiskey and JESUS! I'm not saying that's the right thing for you but I just hope you find your right thing! I can't stand in-your-face Jesus freaks but I love my girlfriend and am just happy she found what she needed! (She's not the in-your-face type!)

Another friend of mine told me that he tried it and that it is a "chemical lie." That the first time you do it, it changes your brain and it's pleasure centers (receptors) so you can't feel pleasure like other people do until you've got off crack for a long time. Also he said that the best you ever feel is the very first time you try it and you never ever ever will feel "that" again.

What can we do to help you?
