| Good for you ignoring it any new foods in your plan? new activities? For some reason your brain knows the effects you got from smoking will help whatever is going on inside you feel better and is prescribing cigs. Acetylcholine it the normal neurotransmitter bound to the place nicatine binds. and the nicatine reaction ones are used mainly in learning fuctions in the brain.

| I have been off cigarettes for over a month now. Admittedly I'm still on the patch, but that is slowly subsiding. None of my coworkers, and few of my family smoke, so the social aspect of the it is pretty well moot. I do know how you feel, though, as I miss them at times when the habit aspect rears it's head. I also know this: A month out, and I can breathe again. No cough, deep full breaths that satisfy rather than irritate. And far better endurance than I have had in years. Stay off them, it's so much better. CJ |

| Hey Girly. I just want you to know that I have been SMOKE FREE all day today...and that nicotine monster is trying to get me! LOL I know it's hard to fight a craving that you don't have an explanation for...but you are strong. Strong to quit, strong to teach others not to smoke, and strong to ignore the cravings. I just want you to know I'm fighting the same ones

| I hear you, sista! I had quit smoking (really quit for the first time) on January 10th of this year. Then, got going with Atkins on Feb. 14th... Suddenly I'm climbing walls, chewing nails, and my brain is all "sugar AND nicotine - AT THE SAME TIME?!" For those of you strong enough - my hat is off. Keep at it, don't give in - it's amazing how quickly an old habit re-asserts itself. S. f/30/5'4" SW - 178 / CW 174 / GW 143 |

| Damn these pesky addictions! My weakness is the old vino. Used to drink rather too much for health, let alone weight loss. On Atkins stayed completely off the wine until I'd reached goal. Now at goal I do allow myself a glass and a half of red in the evenings and so far, am sticking to that rigidly. Refuse...simply refuse to up that amount. But it is nice to have a treat in the evenings on maintenance. Stay strong gals (and guys)!! Sal

| Good luck Stephanie. I'm at almost 3 months smoke free. This is my 3rd try in 3 years. I feel more confident this time though. And because I've been so strong this time, I feel more confident about my eating plan. Like "if I can resist cigs, I can resist carbs". Maybe you can think that way in reverse. You've done so well with your woe, and come so far, you can kick those ciggies to the curb where they can hang out with the twinkies and stuff. You can do it! And besides, they really stink. Do you want to slink around at the wedding in your beautful, sexy dress, reeking like an old ashtray??? I think not.
