| I have not personally dealt with an alcohol problem. Hopefully, someone here will be able to help you. The neatest thing about your situation is that you RECOGNIZE the need to work on the issue. Acknowledging that is half the battle right there! Hang in there friend!

| Hi Kim, I'm Sue and I'm an addict. I've been clean now for 27 months. Good for you for reaching out...it's the first step. Addiction, especially alcoholism can be hereditery so chances are you are correct in your diagnosis. My advice to you would be to find an AA meeting...Alcoholic Anonymous. It's a great group with tons of support. You can even find them online. Just google alcoholics anonymous chats and you will find something. Someone there will be able to help you get on your way. It's a 12 step program and IT WORKS if YOU work it. You need to WANT this to make it work...there is no other way...and you need to admit that you are powerless over alcohol and that it controls you and that your life has become unmanageable...with those steps under your belt you are well on your way. Addiction is a very lonely road...I know...but I also know that you can get out of it by finding the right folks who will guide you and help you if it's what you want. I know tons of people in recovery...you are not alone. Hugs

| Hey Kim! You've made a wonderful post. Like others have said, if you think you may have an addiction to alcohol, you probably do. Food addiciton is just like alcohol addiction. Tough to break, however you are here on this board trying to conquer the eating, I hope it will help you with alcohol as well. |

| Dear Kim, today is my first day back to ADBB in many months it seems and this is the 2nd place I came to check into. First was my pm box. I'm Patty, I'm an alcoholic and a food addict as well. I've been clean for a few years now and its wonderful hun, its a wonderful life but I had to work hard to get it and daily I have to fight to keep it. I still have cravings and my mind goes there daily but I know if I keep sober today, thats all that matters. First of all hun, you are the only one who knows and can admit to having an addiciton. If you are scared becasue you are 'not like anyone else in your drinking habits'. Alcoholism is an illness hun. We taste it and we can not go without it. Have you tried any of the AA web pages as sensfan1960 suggested. Try this link as well: http://www.alcoholics-anonymous.org/?Media=PlayFlash I'm hoping this link works. If it does not hun, please just type in Alcoholics Anonymous into your search browser and see what comes up. Hon, you have a very hard task in front of you and any addict / drunk will agree with me. But we are here for you. There has to be a regional center in your area, if you can get their phone number, then find out where there is a meeting. Meetings helped me. They gave me accountability. I was able to at first listen to those who spoke and learn from them that we are not unlike. Its not what I did while I was drinking, our similarity was that we drank and we did not stop. Please don't get into your car when you are drinking hun. Love yourself enough to not do that. Hope you are doing well patty (fob)
