Talking Re: I am a SEVERE diet coke addict

Wow, I am so amazied at how many diet soda addicts there are. I have been a two liter sometimes more a day of diet dr pepper for years and diet cola either pepsi or coke before that.
I am giving it up this week, I am down to about a quarter bottle and will have that much tomorow and then cut it off cold turkey. I am just ready to be done and would have quit today but knew as today was day one of my induction that combined those withdrawels would be pretty bad. I am drinking a ton of water and actually enjoying it for about a week and have been slowing cutting the soda just because of all the water and then cut it the most today.
I am hoping that is the reason why I have not been able to lose and kept going off plan, caffiene and the sweetners . With them gone and my diet pure, I am hoping to see really good results this time. I am ready to get this weight off and be healthier .
I am glad to have found this thread, it helped a lot to see so many people give up the soda when they used to drink so much.
Stephie

I'm glad I found this thread also. I vary between 2 to 5 Diet Cokes or Coke Zeros a day and want to cut them out totally. I will be working on it over the next couple of weeks.

I think you have to have the attitude of in for a penny in for a pound - I currently drink 4 to 6 cans a day but I know I have to go down the water route if I want to be successful in my mission!

I want to become addicted to water!!! I don't drink any water at all at the moment - from tomorrow its water only for me xo

Oh wow...who knew so many out there are addicted to pop. My addiction was to diet Pepsi. I drank it morning til night and panic would set in without it. Finally, I stopped though not without headaches and moodiness for a few days. But looking back...eventually I was just drinking out of the 2 litre bottle (I know its embarassing because I would tell the kids not to do the same to the milk). I now drink water, coffee, green tea and love aquafina carbonated fruit water instead.

Good luck to all of you that wish to quit.
Don't give up...
Tara

I loved diet coke. So to overcome the addiction i switched to caffeine free, then to flavoured water. Like all addiction it is will power and support of people around you.

I agree that Diet sodas probably are not healthy, but be careful believing the exaggerated harm claims. When they claim they cause every ailment know to man and then some, beware. There is no scientific evidence to support their claims and to be that bad doesn't make sense.

Stating that I think my Diet soda drinking has stalled my weight loss. I couldn't figure out the problem untill I read about aspertain and caffine on this site. It has put a lot of work and potential weight loss to wast.
