| metformin is not a diet pill. It is a insulin regulator. As it regulates the insulin, it is preventing the insulin surges which cause a sugar drop, which then spurs on cravings, shakes, ravenous hunger. Hope that helps, as I'm no MD. The doc probably wouldn't prescribe it unless you really needed it. I see you're 153. How much is it you want to lose? |

| I should be no heavier than 130 in order to look proportional. I gained about 30 lbs in the past two years, and as I did, the PCOS that I'd beaten back by losing weight (from my initial high of 197 lbs) began to rear its ugly head again. So back on the Metformin I went.

| Metformin is not a diet pill at all, just as maribelle described.. I've been on it for quite some time and it truely helps with the cravings.. I'm taking it initially for the PCOS treatment.

| The main goal of the Metformin is to control all aspects of insulin resistance. I.R. wreaks havoc on the body, causing problems beginning with weight gain, hiruitism, acne, and going as far as diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure, and heart disease. Metformin is definitly alot more than a diet drug, and I hope it helps you reach your goal. Best of luck to you! |
