Default So I skip periods for months at a time

I was never diagnosed PCOS, my last period was in July 2006 when we were bringing our gorgeous son home from Guatemala.

Well after losing 6 pounds last week, my period started on thursday and is killing me.

Any suggestions to help curve the pain?

If you have a tampon in, take it out. It restricts the uterus from constricting which helps it to shed the lining. Motrin alway helps me with cramps. Heating pads too.

Wow, that is a long time with no period. Isn't it great Atkins is bringing your body back to normal. However do not get upset if it lasts longer or is heavier than "norm" since losing the weight is releasing hormones that can mess with your cycle.

I was on Depo for 13 YEARS! LOVED IT! Didn't have any menses the entire time. I'm thinking about going back on it, just for that reason alone.

not sure if oyur aware of not but depo is only supposed to be taken for 2 yeas unless our on calcium supplements of something because t caue one to lose bone density. Eary osteporosis basically.

Quote:
"Bone density loss increases the risk for osteoporosis, a disease primarily of old age in which bones become fragile and are more likely to break. Women who use Depo-Provera are at risk for loss of bone density, although this study provides evidence that Depo-Provera's effects on bone density appear to be largely reversible. However, women with risk factors for osteoporosis (for example, smoking, thin or small frame, prior broken bones, Caucasian or Asian ancestry, family history of osteoporosis, diet low in calcium) should discuss the issue of bone loss with their health care providers when considering this form of contraception"
Did now know that it was revesible.

Also, I almost hate to say it, but sometimes walking can help releave the cramps and 'move' it right along! lol Works for me!

I was on the Depo shot for a few years and loved it no more periods..hey thats the best...but I gained almost 5 pounds everytime I got the shot...bloated right up... so between that and quitting smoking thats what led me to Atkins 4 years ago..

I had the EXACT same thing happen to me. I stopped taking the shot about 2 months ago and I STILL am not regular.

Quit smoking 11 months ago. and sadly I have not lost the weight from stopping depo nor the weight from quitting smoking.
