Default I need this change for my future

Hi, I'm Kimberly. I was diagnosed w/PCOS about 5 years ago. Me and my husband were trying to get pregnant with no luck and went to a fertility specialist. I was not told for quite some time that I had PCOS but after trying with meds for months and months, the doc decided that I had this. Honestly, I didn't believe him b/c he just simply said it without any evidence. I'd taken tests but it wasn't mentioned when he received my results. So, for years, I felt like the doctor was just a quack. It wasn't until my insulin levels were tested and I was referred to an endocrinologist that I knew something wasn't right. I spent so much of my time rejecting the doctors recommendations of doing a low carb diet. I'd been on Atkins before I trying to conceive but didn't realize that this would help with my new issues. I've been very depressed and have felt like a failure because of this. I just want to live again. I want to be happy. Yes, I want to be someone's mother too. I pray that this is my chance to have all of that.

I've been looking around this forum for success stories. I've been looking for women that have been in my situation and have come out on the other side. Can anyone help me find some of these encouraging post? I'm here to stay, I'm not going anywhere. I have to do this! I don't believe I'm here by mistake. I just need all the support that everyone can give me. I'm going to try and get my ticker to work. I've been back on Atkins for 3 weeks. I have lost 9 pounds. I started at 225 and I'm down to 216. I wish it were more but from what I've read from here, women with PCOS do not see the weightloss as quickly. So, I'm just waiting and measuring. I've lost several inches.

Hi and welcome to the Board!

Below are two links for you.

http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...pregnancy.html (PCOS-- QUESTION ABOUT ATKINS DURING PREGNANCY)

I'm sure there are more happy threads on this topic around the Board, but I'm not a good Sherlock today.

Despite all your good intentions, you're mightily tempted by a food you're not supposed to have. What to do? I'll tell you this: You'd better have a strategy ready!"

Thanks everyone for coming by and encouraging me. I am so happy to have found you guys. I feel so good about Atkins and this being my new way of life. I don't know....I just feel like I can truly do this and that this is my opportunity to be healthy and become a mother. Thanks so much Georgiana for posting the other threads, this is exactly what I needed! I find it very encouraging to see that someone else was where I am and had success. Hi Everlosing & Sunny_One! I'm always coming in and checking things out. But I will try to start posting more often in order to keep myself accountable. I see you are doing a wonderful job, I can't wait to get to where you are. I just baked my husband two sweet potato pies but I have no desire to eat any of it. I didn't even do the taste test. Now, that says a lot about my journey and the fact that I'm serious. Tomorrow is my big weigh in. I've decided to only weigh once a week. I've only worked out twice this week though. That's my downfall, I don't make the time to workout. So, my goal for the coming week is to workout at least 5 days. I've always had a problem with combining exercise and dieting. It seems that if I'm doing one, I'm not doing the other. But I really want to get a rhythm going where I am able to change my WOE and work out.

Again, thanks everyone for your encouragement. I truly appreciate it.

I have a bit of celebratory news. Warning: It's a bit TMI. I have never in my entire life that I can recall had a regular cycle. I've always been on some type of pill in order to regulate my cycle. Well, last month, my TOM arrived the second day of induction. I was happy for this and it didn't last forever like it normally would. But the good news is that exactly 28 days later, my TOM came without anything. This is indeed great! I feel so liberated. I feel like a real woman and feel like I'm one step closer to being a mother. I'd also like to report that I reach my first goal of 215, Tuesday. I actually was at 214. I am so happy that I'm seeing some healthy changes going on. Yes, the weight is coming off slower than I'd anticipated but the other changes mean more to me than the numbers. I'm praising God for this......

Congrats on your cycle. I know how much that means... probably more than the weight loss ever could!

It took me 2 years to get pregnant with my first baby. After she was born, I went on Atkins and lost 115 lbs, and when we decided to get pregnant again... I was totally expecting it to take years, but it just took 1 try. I had totally normal cycles the whole time I was actively dieting and when I was in maintenance too... and now that I'm back on Atkins, I'm having normal cycles again too.

Hang in there!!

Wow, that's wonderful news. It's so nice to hear the testimonies of others that have been where I am and find that they had positive results. I so appreciate you taking out the time to respond and make my day! God bless you and good luck with your WOE & WOL.
