Default My PCOS Story

Well, I was diagnosed when I was 21, told I'd NEVER have a baby. It devastated me and my (now husband) Fiancé, we had always wanted children. I sunk into a huge depression, ate my pain away and ballooned up to a mammoth weight. I did lose quite a bit of weight, did 5 rounds of Clomid and ended up finding out I was pregnant. We were beyond thrilled! Anyway, we lost that pregnancy early on. So, I went into an even bigger depression and gained a lot of the weight I lost back. Here I am today at 418 pounds and desperately wanting to get pregnant again.

So, I am here to lose weight, get my PCOS & IR under control and hopefully get pregnant again! I have ALL the miserable effects of PCOS, its a mean condition. Although my cycles are fairly regular now, they aren't exact, but I have an idea of when they are due. When I was in my 20's I would have cycles that would stick around for months and disappear for just as long. It didn't' get better until I did lose weight. I believe in my heart that I will be blessed with a baby, IF and only if I get this weight down!!!

I am on Atkins to gain my health back, and make my dream for a family come true!

I am so sorry to hear about your struggles with pregnancy and PCOS. I haven't been officially diagnosed with PCOS by a doctor, but a friend of mine who works in the medical field and has PCOS herself, brought it to my attention. I see now after some research that I have ALL the symptoms of PCOS, its so blatant now that it's not even funny. I don't have medical insurance and can't afford to go to the doctor to take care of this problem medically...so I'm on Atkins trying to see if I can take care of PCOS by diet and lifestyle change. I want to talk to women who have PCOS to get any ideas on what I can do. Hopefully I'll hear from you soon. Good luck with your journey!

Keria,
I so sympathize with you as I was told the very same thing at your age! In fact, my husband and I were told that its just not possible with the way my condition was...So we adopted a baby girl from his cousin and I went on a lowcarb diet...BAM! I got pregnant at age 27! I nearly lost the baby several times and in fact, he was born 4 weeks early via emergency C-section. He is a healthy 12 year old now and was born 360 days before our daughter's first birthday! We thought we were pretty lucky to be blessed with two children and life went on..
I went on another diet years later and lost alot of weight and started getting healthy again...and so about 4 and half years later I got pregnant again...But it was a tubal pregnancy (ectopic) and I had the chemo shots in the tummy to deal with that...it was very painful emotionally and physically.
I worked hard to get myself back in order when i could after that and about 4 months later, I got pregnant again! It was a very rough pregnancy and Jakob was born 6 weeks premature and was on a ventilator for about 3 days...But he was alive and otherwise ok!! I ended up going thru wound therapy in the hospital for another 2 weeks after that as I did not heal well. It was rough and I was told I should never have babies again as my womb will not hold them (the placenta was tearing thru my womb and i had woke up at 5 am hemoraghing*bleeding* and had the emergency C-section).....So my hubby took care of the issue and got 'fixed'. At age 40, I have 3 children now, 1 daughter and 2 boys, and that is alot for being told I would never have children right??
I think that if you lose some weight like I did and get your health under control via Atkins that you may still have a chance! I strongly recommend cutting all sugar, as much fake sugar, and bad carbs out of your life! Make sure to eat your veggies and follow the plan and you should be good to go! If I can do it, you can do it too! It may take a bit, but I am sure you have a good chance like me! I also recommend watching your diet like a hawk when and if you get pregnant! You can do it! I have faith!! In fact, my daughters middle name is Faith, cause I always had faith that I would have children someday!
Big huge loving hugs to you hun...I do understand completely!
