| I had PCOS, and stopped having periods after my son's birth in '98. 5 years later I started Atkins. After a year of Atkins, I started having occasional periods. After 2 years, almost every other month. In August and September of this year, I actually had a cycle only one month apart, and whammo, preggo in the next cycle! This diet DEFINITELY affects fertility, if hypoinsulimia or hypoglecimia is the problem. Wishing you lots and lots of baby dust! |

We had been trying to have this baby for 18 months. Also by putting my time, energy and worry's into dieting I didn't have much time to be thinking about babies.

| Thanks Maribelle, Thats what I wanted to hear for sure. I have not been very successful staying on weight watchers tis past year because I am a "fiend" when it comes to carbs and cant seem to stop at a normal size portion. However, on Atkins I am feeling great, have more energy and am not craving carbs as much. I would like to be able to keep eating low carb and not have to be concerned about it affecting my ability to conceive and it sounds like it has worked just fine for you-so lets hope it does for me too!!! Congratulations on your pregnancy

| My two living children are Atkins babies. I was on induction phase. I take pregnancy tests before my period is even due! As soon as I knew I was pregnant I added more maintence level stuff in. The baby "lives off of" hormones for the first few weeks I believe until the placenta forms. Make sure you are taking folic acid! |

| How much weight do you need to take off? Looking back(though I wouldn't trade the children I have now for anything!) I would have held off on the ttc until i was at or near goal weight. However wanting a child is something that is difficult to postpone. My last pregnancy I started out at 200lbs. It was a very healthy pregnancy but I really I wish I would have been at a healthy weight and got to wear all those cute maternity clothing! |
