Default Morning Sickness

I am possibly pregnant (we have been TTC) and lately it seems all I want is carbs (I'm experiencing some nausea). I understand that we can't do induction while pregnant but has anyone experienced morning sickness while trying to do maintenance etc.??? What did you eat to help the yucky feeling?

I never had severe morning sickness, but I found when I did maintenance it was much much better. The best secret in my book to fighting the ms is eating six small meals a day instead of three large ones. The better you control your hunger, the better you feel. When are you going to test? I bet you're pretty excited!!!

I think Friday a.m. might be a good time to test. I'm really not sure (1st time) but I just have this sort of sickly feeling.

If you are already feeling sick, chances are your test would be positive, especially if its one of the higher end tests. Sending you lots of positive vibes!

Default Re: Morning Sickness

I have had two pregnancies now while doing Atkins, only one however was while on maintenance phase, my other I wanted to loose 10 more lbs and was in the process of moving to the maintenance phase (go figure haha). The first time (before reaching goal) I had terrible morning sickness and turned to wasa crackers and SF carbonated drinks (like Shasta's grapefruit made with splenda, they seemed to help me). I eventually fell off the wagon after being put on bed rest. My second time around anytime I feel sick (not too often thank goodness!!) I make would make something and just add fresh/bottled ginger to it. Like maybe a glaze to go over chicken. I know its hard to eat, but my sickness wasn't bad enough to turn away all foods. I ate alot of soups at first, and made some wheat thin type of crackers from Linda's site. I had a really hard time stomaching anything really greasy like cheese crackers even. I also agree with the smaller meals.
As far as falling off the wagon, I cannot honestly say I have been 100% atkins, but I am not off bingeing on whatever I want either. I am again headed towards bed rest and with the hubby gone and these baby problems im having I just have a hard time making everything fresh (let alone the needed shopping trips), and from scratch.
Give it a try I am confident that you can do maintenance throughout your pregnancy, there are alot of really good food selections! Good luck to you and I hope congratulations is in order! Let us know on Friday!

Yes I am having problems sticking with the maintenance. I haven't had a set kind of schedule for the last two weeks, and have been doing alot of running around, and caved into fast foods, and sweets to counter stress...which always is a bad idea. I'm desperately trying to regain my maintenance eating again, and did much better yesterday...until I made egg noodles with supper. Big weakness. Anyway, definitely looking forward to your good news!

I hear all of ya on the falling off the wagon, while pregnant. I'm tryin to hard to stick with maintenance the whole way through, because I seriously fear gaining 40-50lbs during this pregnancy....but carb cravings have never been this bad for me. If I crave and eat one more chili cheese dog, i'm gonna start barking!

As for the morning sickness--I seem to only actually vomit, when I take the prenatal vitamins and the iron pills and forget to eat! Biggest mistake in the world----first I feel sick for hours, then I finally eat something, and it comes right back up. Other than the 2 times that happened.....I have problems with nausea all the time. I think I'd rather feel sick and vomit, than walk around feeling like I need to, but I can't

This morning my coffee got me....came back up! That hasn't happened since once in the beginning. I'm beginning to wonder if I'm one of the lucky second trimester morning sickness gals. My SIL warned me that toothpaste would eventually become a trigger, but I didn't believe her. Now that's starting to make me a little queasy too. Hmph.

Chilly cheese dog....mmmmmmmm Good thing I don't have the fixins', cause that would probably put my BP up over the red line again. But it sure sounds good!
