| The maintenance phase is ok during pregnancy. Although I cannot endorse it for you, I do have to say that I was brave enough to follow induction during most of my pregnancy and the baby grew well and is healthy.

| I couldn't follow the maintenance phase because I must have eaten something that triggered some serious cravings and I wouldn't go back to induction to restart-so I ended up going off program. I just delivered almost 1 month ago and am trying to get back on program. I gained 50 pounds overall and lost 20 of them within the first 2 weeks after delivery just from the baby and all the fluid. I have to admit though that it's hard for me to get back on program. My cravings are out of control and when I start out strong in the morning--by afternoon with all the baby and kid stress, I'm a total emotional wreck and I cave in. I usually end up in tears by the end of the day--though that's been getting better as time passes. If you can manage to stay on maintenance without eating anything that causes you issues then I would definately do it. Of course, you should always talk to your doctor about stuff like this. Mine was fine with me eating a low carb diet. Good luck and congratulations on your pregnancy!! |
