Answer: d. All of the above. Brie, Cheddar and Mozzarella are aged cheeses and all allowed during Induction.

Answer: c. turnips. Turnips are a root vegetable that is on the "other vegetable list".

What are acceptable proteins during Induction?

Answer: d. all of the above. Organ meats, like chicken liver, are limited to 4 ounces daily.

Answer: a. 65/30/5. The ratios represent the percentages of eat of these nutrients in your daily caloric intake. Atkins is a high fat diet, not a high protein diet.

Answer: b. See your doctor for a check up and blood work. While it would have been cool if Dr. Atkins endorsed ADBB, he didn't. However he advised everyone to weigh and measure before beginning Induction. He also advised everyone to see their physician before beginning the diet and to get blood work--common sense advise for everyone.

Answer: a. Roast turkey, 1 cup each sauteed summer squash and mushrooms, 3 tablespoons heavy cream, whipped with a packet of splenda
The roast turkey is obvious. Summer squash (zucchini or yellow neck) are on the 'other vegetable' list. Mushrooms are on the 'salad' list. Each of these vegetables can be eaten in the acceptable daily amounts during Induction. 3 tablespoons of heavy cream is permissible as well as the packet of Splenda. Like the vegetables, they can be consumed at their appropriate amounts.

Jello Brand Sugar Free gelatin dessert is sweetened with aspartame. Aspartame is the artificial sweetener Dr. Atkins wanted us to avoid. (See the Artificial Sweetener section in the Foods List). Turnips are on the 'other vegetable' list.

Answer: d. All of the above. Chapter 8, Fiber subsection, states that you are allowed to take 1 tablespoon of one of these fibers daily as a fiber supplement.
