1. It is not necessary to read the chapters preceding the Induction Chapter 11.

2. Can you really have withdrawal symptoms when beginning to eat Atkins style?

3. I lost pounds in my first few days of induction.

4. My body chemistry can’t be changed by what I eat

5. I can’t have vegetables while on induction

6. People with severe kidney disease (creatinine over 2.4) should be able to do Atkins.

7. Flaxmeal in any quantity is fine for induction.

8. The critera for a defining a plateau is no loss of weight for at least four weeks.

9. In OWL protein and fat remain the mainstays of ones nutritional regimen.

10. Starchy vegetables are the last (9th) rung of OWL.

11. In OWL you may eat a new food group four times a week to start. Then you may eat it daily.

12. One recommendation by Dr. Atkins is to weigh only monthy when you are maintaining your goal weight.

13. The approximate CCLM range for average Metabolic Resistance is 20 - 30 grams of carbohydrate per day.

The withdrawal symptoms generally last up to three days. The
symptoms are caused by eliminating the foods you are addicted to (sugar, flour, caffeine etc..

3. I lost pounds in my first few days of induction

False:
Atkins is an effective diuretic. In the beginning stages the first drop
in pounds is water weight. After about day 4 you will be losing actual
weight

4. My body chemistry can’t be changed by what I eat

False
This is specifically called “induction” because you are inducing
weight loss by changing your body’s chemistry by burning fat instead of
carbohydrates

5. I can’t have vegetables while on induction

False:
Dr. Atkins recommends 3 cups loosely packed salad vegetables
from the list as well as one cup of other vegetable each day, starting with
day 1

6. People with severe kidney disease (creatinine over 2.4) should be able to do Atkins.

Dr. Atkins suggests one tablespoon for constipation.

Dr A. states the critera as follows:
a.) no loss of pounds NOR inches, remember exercise will increase muscle mass and muscle weighs more then fat.
b.) you have not started a new medication.
c.) you have checked for a diet related disorder (chapters 24-27)
d.) you are sure you have adhered to the plan, take a close look at your eating habits.
