If Suzzyq posted that she works there and they do use pancake batter in their omelettes, how is that a hoax?

I emailed IHOP about this a while back. They confirmed that there was a bit of batter in their omelette eggs, said that they don't maintain nutritional info but estimated that the batter would add about 4 carbs, and said that any egg dish could be made with cracked eggs on request.

I've been ordering my Colorado omelette with cracked eggs ever since, and never had any problem.

I know this post is old, but is there a difference in the look of the omelette? If I order my omelette with shelled eggs will I be able to tell the difference by looking at it?

I ate at IHOP on last Sunday. This was my first time since beginning Atkins in September and I ordered the freakin' Colorado omelette and I'm pissed now! :anger

This is one very important lesson all Atkineers need to learn and learn quickly always at any place you eat ask what is in the food and how is it prepared. The resturant folk are used to this they want your business and don't want to have a medical emergency should you have a food allergy. Call them on it if they brush you off. I know it might seem like a big deal but your health is a big deal. You don't want your hard work undone by an added ingredient that triggered cravings or caused you to exceed your carb limit.

After reading about this a long time ago, I've learned to ask for fresh cracked eggs wherever I go because I'm scared that they might do this at other places too. I always ask for fresh cracked eggs as Denny's... and they look MUCH different then everyone else's.... but I'm not sure if they add anything to them. I just assume that they do.

It happened to me lastweek...... I asked all the right Q's and got these answers:

Their Hollandaise sauce contains corn syrup solids (I asked if it contained sugar and she came back and told me no sugar, but the cook knew to tell her there was the other stuff )

The steak or chicken philedalphia contains imitation crab, and comes premixed.

Their veggie of the day was corn, so I asked for an extra large salad in lieu of it, and she complied

I had the greek baby back ribs.......... spices and lemon juice only

Hey Guys,

The new IHOP menus actually list the inclusion of pancake batter, so there is no need to debate the issue any more. The last time I ate there, I simply asked for a fresh egg omlette. I did not notice the difference in taste or texture. I don't want to be fluffy anymore, so my eggs or omlettes sure don't have to be either! :yes

Wow, this thread is from 2003. Things have probably changed at IHOP since then.

Amy, on future visits to IHOP, maybe you could investigate the menu before you eat? Also, when you realize that there are potatoes in the dish (after the first bite?) you can pick them out. Easier to order them without though.
