Default IHOP Restaurant Eggs- READ THIS

I went to IHOP (International House of Pancakes) the other day. Once I started ordering the Atkins way, the waiter told me that the eggs at IHOP are premixed and the mix contains pancake batter. He told me that whenever I order any egg product from IHOP, always ask for fresh cracked eggs. I just wanted to pass that on to everyone who eats at IHOP. :laughing

I have never thought of something like this! I'm so glad you brought it up, because whenever we go out, I get eggs of some kind. Thanks

I have worked at IHOP for 8 years. When you order eggs (over easy, over hard, etc.) They are shelled eggs. The scrambled eggs are liquid eggs though (with citric acid as a preservative, No carbs) The omelettes though are egg batter with a small amount of pancake batter mixed in ( to make the omelette fluffy) I would recommend you just ask your server to request your omelette prepared with only eggs not the omelette batter. I hope this clarifies things for you

Default I Hop Omelets

Mercy me :yikes I LOVE the Chicken Fajita Omelets at I Hops, and always asked for only 2 eggs, but it would come AS BIG as a 3 egg one, NEVER KNEW it was NOT REAL EGGS!!!! Here I thought I was OK with the carbs in an omelet... Thanks for the heads up...in the future I will ask for REAL EGGS in my omelet... or maybe just have them scrambled!!!!

As I have stated before, the omelettes are made with REAL EGGS, not FAKE EGGS !!! The omelette batter just has a small amount of pancake batter in it!!!

Okay, I read this thread a few months ago. So a few days ago I went to IHOP with my husband. I knew I wanted an omellete so I ordered the omellete and asked the waitress "can you make it with just cracked eggs?"

She was confused and thought I was kidding. I told her that I was on Atkins, and had been informed that the stuff they make the omelletes with has a little pancake batter in it. She literally laughed at me and assured me that it was not true, that the omelletes were made with just eggs. So embarrassed, I agreed to order it normally.

When my omellete came, it did seem a little too "fluffy" to be just eggs, but I ate it anyway. When the waitress came to check on us, she jokingly said "how's your omellete? They didn't put any pancake batter in it did they??"

:raving

I wanted to smack her. Needless to say, she didn't get much of a tip.

Anyway, IHOP may want to jump on the bandwagon like Village Inn and make an Atkins menu. Maybe they should educate their employees a little about Atkins too.

Any thoughts?

It is easy to make eggs fluffy with just a little cream or water, no point adding pancake batter to the mix.

I would lean towards saying the pancake batter in the eggs thing is all just a hoax myself... but feel free to ask if you feel uncertain at your local IHOP.
