Default Jimmy Johns!!

Today, I discovered the Jimmy John's "Unwich". Any sub on the menu they will make wrapped in lettuce... and it is JUST as delicious... and a fraction of the carbs.. I was hungry.. and had a lot of carbs left for my day so I opted for the J.J. Gargantuan Unwich... with about 9.23 net carbs.. its a HUGE sandwich.. with turkey, genoa salami, capicola, smoked ham, roast beef, provolone, mayo... I only ate half... So if you are really into deli subs... this is pretty good.. I know the lunch meat can sometimes contain a little sugar.. but if you don't mind.. these are awesome.

Interesting...we don't have those here tho. Subway will make any sub into a salad for an extra buck (here anyway). I keep that in mind for emergencies (I have to be careful with sandwich meat...too much gives me migranes)

That's unfortunate both about the migraines AND not having Jimmy Johns.. I'd be surprised if they don't make their way up there eventually.. they are a hit in the U.S. especially with the college students. They even deliver! I was a Subway fanatic before Atkins.. however I was a fan because of that delicious Italian herbs and cheese bread... and we all know where that got me.. hehe...

Any of the burger joints will make a "low carb" burger (no bun) if you ask them to - just watch the processed meats for their sugar content ---- it can work against you.

We don't have Jimmy John's here either but I do eat the Subway Salads on occasion. The Unwich sounds great so if I ever get the chance, I will try one!

I saw the Unwich from the window the other day, and wondered what it was exactly...sounds great. Do they have a list of the carb values in the stores?

I have done the subway salad thing a couple of times. Its okay in a pinch but not necessarily something I would seek out. I had lettuce with the philly cheese steak meat and cheese on top and put a little ranch dressing on. It was pretty tasty - the funny part is that the meat, when eaten alone, without anything on it - tasted just like cheese popcorn. It was a bizarre experience! lol.

I don't think they list the carbs in the store, but the website is really easy to use when you go to the nutrition, they have all the information you need on there.

I'd be more worried about the sodium in one of them -- they list it as 3254.66 per serving!!!!! W O W!
