| actually too much protein not enough fat. Atkins is a ketogenic plan which means we eat high fat to prime our bodies engines to burn body fat. your fats should be about 65% of your totals during induction and your protein 30% for all phases of Atkins. try adding a bit of a healthy fat to every meal and see what happenes. Check out not2lates stickie about fats in the induction forum. it only takes a teaspoon or 2 to alter your ratio back to Atkins. if you make your fitday public you can post a link to it and folk can see your foods eatten and make suggestions. happy low carbing.

| To lower the fat you would need to raise either the protein and/or carbs. But my question would be, are these current ratios working for you as far as weight loss or you just scared at seeing that high a fat percentage?

| Here's a link to help explain the ratios and fitday http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5235 If you are following the Rules of Induction and eating correctly from the Acceptable Foods list, you will no doubt be almost right where you need to be....so keep that copy of DANDR handy. |

| Ok, I got the ling and I'm adding it as soon as i'm done typing this. I made a mistake, something I do often I'm afraid in my numbers, I just went and checked it again.... It was not 41% it was 61%. Sorry about that and as far as the alcohol goes, yeah I wish. I could sure tie one on right about now but I haven't been drunk in close to 2 years, only a beer here or there and now I can't even do that |

| at 61 you are close but need even a bit more fat and a bit less protein. it can be just one bite so you are very close there now. However not seeing the foods their is noway to know if you are eating your Atkins correctly or have forbidden foods in there.

| Your post doesnt say your having a problem with weight loss just that the ratios have scared you. Is there a problem with your weight loss? Dr Atkins has never set percentages to the nutrient ratios. The Atkins research center though has averaged out though that while following induction most people fall into the the 65% fat / 30% protein / 5% carb category. That being said there is nothing wrong with expermenting at different ratios and finding what works best for you. Research studies from that Atkins center and outside has shown benefits for higher protein especially for those that exercise.
